The other day while cleaning out my room, I found one of those old cd-r stacks cases. I thought to myself, hmm that could make a decent gravity fed nerf dart drum. If you put the case on its side, cut out a hole and mounted it to the top of a barrel, it would make a decent drum type clip. I'm in the process of creating this, time is actually the only hting holding me back. My only concerns are: whether or not the darts will fall in place fast enough, how i can get enough air hitting the back of the dart as it drops into the barrel, and what gun should it be used on. Right now I'm thinking of mounting this "idea" to a BBB because I don't have any other Nerf gun that could be clip fed or that puts out enough power. any thoughts?

Having just read both your posts in homemades, I encourage you to search for things before starting topics. This has been suggested before, and Captain Slug has an excellent method for building balanced stephans. And I think this is more of a mod; since you're attaching it to a BBB and not some homemade rifle or something.

Not to entirely bash you though, I think you might be the first to actually build a drum mag; I don't remember if the other guys were just speculating or actually built something. Good luck doing it; I think they weighted the top of the drum with a follower dart or made a follower "dart" that was rubber-banded around so that it forced the darts into posion. You'll need some sort of bolt system to get it to work, and there are tons of those out there.

You beat me to it. But if this guy does, he will be the first NORTH AMERICAN nerfer (on this forum) to make one. I bet some people that didnt sign up on these boards have made drum mags..

You'd have to get a breech going on, methinks. Otherwise, wouldn't the air just A) push the dart back up into the drum, or B ) be released out into the drum? Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that would work without a breech. With one, you'd have a slamming ROF. The BBB is kinda shaky when it fires, something that doesn't move as much might work a bit better.

Good luck with this, I'd like to see how you go about it.
