What exactly is the limit on signature length? Is it in the amount of characters or the amount of space taken up? I seem to be running into an error message even with extremely short signatures.

That doesn't exactly answer my question. I'm talking about the actual length of the signatures.

I think I read somewhere that sigs should be between 2-5 lines long, but if I find anything different, I'll give you a link.

I think a signature can only contain 200-300 characters. Depends on what site your on. Here I think its 200(?)

It's not 200-300; it's whatever cx assigned when creating the site. 2-300 is common, but not always.
