Hello.
I used to be on these forums a while back-hated disliked for crappy typing. Well it's changed. Don't ask me why. Anydangway, to Longshot owners, what's your thoughts on it? Is it "teh 1337 sayce" (Notice use of qoutations), is it average, or a piece of garbage? It looks sick, but beauty is only skin-deep. I just wanted a marker, err blaster (Started playing paintball, different story) that is somewhat accurate and can shoot fairly far with minimal modification. So I ask for your humble opinions please. Sorry if this has been posted before; if it has, would you be so kind to provide a link?

They aren't weapons. Don't call them weapons. They're only weapons if you make them so.

The Longshot is a Wonderfull blaster, with two six shot clips and a large plunger, it's awsome.

However, if you are not comfortable or capable of modifying a complex nerf blaster, then dont bother, it has a lot of moving parts. regardless of its cons (which are few) I highly recomend it.

Discretion is the better part of valor, thats why I carry a very big axe.

You can fool some people all of the time and everyone some of the time, but you cant fool all the people all of the time, but it sure is fun trying.

What have I got in my pocket? (tolkien)

Don't worry about complex parts. I've taken this apart and put back together plenty of times with minimal effort:

I couldn't find a cut-away; only a parts diagram.

Pros
+ Ample Plunger Chamber Volume
+ Lots of raw potential
+ Already includes two box magazines and a fairly reliable mechanism for them
+ Fairly durable
+ Comparatively nice size and ergonomics
+ Functionally unmatched

Cons
+ Complex part interactions, tight part tolerances, high number of moving parts
+ Plunger head isn't terribly durable and may need to be replaced if you add a second spring
+ Bolt handle location is kind of annoying
+ Difficult to make compatible with stefans
+ Only accepts one kind of stock dart, which currently cannot be purchased as a standalone replacement

All of that aside I've never had anything even remote like it during the past 15 years that I have been familiar with Nerf weapons.

The little critters of nature, they don't know that they're ugly. That's very funny, a fly marrying a bumble bee. I told you I'd shoot, but you didn't believe me. Why didn't you believe me?

You know I should probably post this in another thread, but what the hell. Streamlined darts are available at my target in Saint Petersburg Florida. I just got four packs of ten for 5.00 $ a piece.

Meh, I see no reason to get replacement LS ammo. Converted Dart Tag stefans work just as well with a boost in range.

I'm just interested in replacement clips.

Agreed. Hasbro needs to wake up and start selling those clips already damnit! :D

Anyway....

Longshot + Stock = Garbage

Longshot + Modded = Ownage. After a spring replacement and some better darts, you basically have a rapid fire scumbag rifle. (Rapid fire like a Maverick, not like an RF20. :P ) After further modification it surpasses every other Nerf gun ever made.

What kind of spring can you put in there? And does cutting the dome off of the stock darts really help it?

You can put BBB springs, NF-sized springs made from a heavy-gauge wire, or almost anything that's long enough in the LS. Pineapple has a sticky at the top of the mods page with an assload of mods for the LS, including Carrtoon's foundational spring replacement and air flow restrictor removals. Check it out.
