I just bought 5 SSPB's and 3 of them are defective. Is that normal? Also, I can hear the best one of them leaking air while I pump it, but it does retain most of the air... is this just because of the overpressure release valve? If so, how do I access that?

Thanks,
Guilo

You'll have to end up cutting part of the gun.
Cutting part of it to allow the pump to be removed.

Yup, that's pretty normal. And be careful when you cut it open for the OPRV, it can get 60 or 70' brassed but it's really easy to get stuff in the valve or pump shaft when it's open.

I find the biggest issue with these is that people tend to push the dart provided too far down into the tube and it splits the dart. Then the gun fires but the dart goes 2 feet and people dont know why.

Thanks for all the responses, I have one last question: how do I keep the pump from comming out after I plug the OP valve?

Uh oh, sounds like you blew the check valve to the air chamber. Now all this air is going to be escaping through the pump shaft. In other words its broken.

I don't think so, I have only pumped it 7 times max... that is just how many times the instructions say. Also, the defective guns valves are broken, out of the box, so that wasn't my fault :P.

Guilo

Edit: The gun shoots just fine, I just hear some air coming through the OP valve when I pump it. I still get normal ranges.

Do you mean that when you pull out the pump, it will come out of the gun? If that's what you mean, just the 2 pieces you cut back together. Just make sure you don't get any glue inside the gun.
Or you could just tape it like I did.

Yea, I have the same problem you do with plugging the OP valve not working. I think it may be an O-ring problem, in which case you can try more lubricant or getting your own O-ring but otherwise yer outa luck. Sorry.

Personally I think SSPB's had great potential but all the ones I've had have broken or deteriorated over time. It's really too bad.

I can pump the gun, but beyond 7 pumps, no more air is held, as I haven't plugged the OP valve, but I removed the barrel post of this monster, and now it shoots 40 feet with one of my stefans that fits snug in the barrel. Also, this is my only pistol now that my scout broke, and I almost don't need a NF anymore, as I am getting 2 SFs and an AT3K soon.

As far as the SSPB goes, that's the only gun I've ever purchased to have a defect. It was likewise for everyone I Nerfed with too.

To test if it's an O-ring problem, put a little water in the pump shaft. This wets the o-ring, and if it helps your air leak, you know it's a dried o-ring.

And even though your getting 2 SFs and an AT3k, never give up on the NF. It's a trusty one that'll serve you. I think of it as the 'Old Faithful'. I can always fall back on it in a war.

Ok, I guess I will get a NF then. I will try getting the o-ring wet, to see if that helps.

Guilo

Edit: I got the o-ring wet, it helped range a lot. about 50' slightly angled, without the OP valve plugged.
