I stopped coming here for useful information (no offense to anyone) I guess over the summer, since it became flooded with noobs. I'm not dissing this site; In 2005 when I joined, it was great. It truly was a NerfHaven.

Since then, I've pretty much stopped frequenting the forums altogether...you really just can't get away from stupid questions and topics.

Oh well.

Anyway, I guess I'm back for the Christmas break. Even though you people who go to NHQ and have read my topic and have already seen these guns, I really don't care. I feel like sharing it on here as well, so deal with it.

Ever since I started the CWC, I've had the tradition of doing something Nerf for the co-founder for Christmas, and insanely 1337 Pratt. He is the best at anything with a gun- no lie. If you play HL2, any mod of HL, or any FPS for that matter, he'll dominate. At Nerf, he's our most accurate shooter and experienced tactician. At paint ball, he has yet to get hit after 3 straight games and over 20 kills. The first year, I made him a beastly NF-RF20-3 SSPB integration. The second year, I made him this:

A bolt-action SM1000, which to date is the BEST gun in our clans arsenal. This year I decided to do something different.

I spent a good 2 hours doing a Maverick clip mod, for once not rushing through it, and taking my time to sand and Dremel away most imperfections. The result was a Maverick that not only looked good, but fired slightly better too.

I also got my hands on some black spray paint.

Here's the gun finished, with a CWC spray-logo I made:

As I'm normally geared toward performance, I leave the aesthetic quality of my mods to be pulverized by the gun's amazingness. It's been a surprising shift for me. I like it. I hope you guys do too...

Now, for the NiteFinder.

It's singled, with a coupler (hopefully) reinforced and glued directly onto the plunger tube, which has a hole drilled through the air displacer (I guess you would call it. The cap that feeds air up and around it instead of directly into the barrel), and a replaced spring.

It's also cut down a bit...

And with that one, I'm just about out of spray paint. But yea, I hope you guys enjoy my first paintjob. Don't be expecting too many more, though...

Nice job on the sm1000.
I love your maverick, just a simple flat black with a yellow logo. I really like simple paintjobs a lot.
I don't like the nitefinder so much, it looks like it was rust stained.

Just my opinion, but do whatever works for you.

That Maverick is simply beautiful!
And of the NF, I think the same as trogdor65. It doesn't look like blood.

The only thing close to red was fluorescent orange, so humor me okay? ;)

Heh, glad you guys like. It would be pretty awesome to have Batman suddenly whip out a mav from his utility belt, but of course he doesn't use guns...

Thanks guys. I have one more yet to do, a black, possibly "rust" speckled Firefly, but I need to pick up another can of flat black before I do so.

What was the brand of black paint did you use? What was the shade/tone of black?

I really like it!

Definitely Digging the black Mav. The yellow Nerf Highlight makes it look simply amazing. And yea, it definitely does scream Batman. As for the NiteFinder, I personally like it. As for whether or not it looks like true blood staining, i dunno, considering I've never seen a truly blood stained anything first hand, but it does look quite slick.

What sort of piping did you use for the bolt? Is it CPVC on the inside? What is on the outside? I like the mav, but I could see somebody getting freaked out when you pont an entirely Black gun at them for the Nf. It is just too realistic for me.

Blood circulating in the system too long after death, or left exposed to the elements, turns brown anyway!

So who cares! Nice splatter effect!

The brown would need to be a bit darker and a shade closer to maroon.
Coagulate is the word we are looking for here.

I once had a nose bleed and I put my head over the sink and just watched it spatter for minutes.
I thought it was pretty artistic and now even more people think I am crazy.

This is about 1/4 of the way into coagulation.

WOW forsaken_angel I had to run the the bathroom after I looked at that. No just kidding but that is very very cool how it splattered like that. I had a nose bleed during a wrestling match once, it looked alot like that except for that it was on the mat and not a sink.

Nice paint job and I think its funny how you just switch from talking about a gun to Forsaken's nose blead. But it does look cool none the less.

Wow, Forsaken_Angel, that's pretty...

..."picture-esque"

Sorry for taking so long to reply, but the morning after I posted this (Tuesday) , a squirrel grounded our electric and phone lines. Of course, our electric company came two hours later, but Verizon completely screwed us over and came earlier this morning.

Anyway, I used "American Traditions (by Vaspar) Interior/Exterior ULTRA ENAMEL Flat Black" spraypaint.

See, it's better because they use the word "Ultra". Anything with that in the name is instantly a superior product...

Thanks guys, I'm glad you like. I enjoyed making them.

Oh, for the SM1000, the actual bolt is made from a small rectangle of this "nifty" PVC sheeting my dad found and got for me last Christmas. It's about 1/4 thick, and I used a drill to drill a small hole through it, and then drive a flattened nail through it (ended about flush with the end of the PVC sheet). The sheath is made of 300 PSI PVC, which is pretty sweet for loose fits where you don't care about air loss.

The barrel is 14" (I believe) or 1/2 CPVC.

That squirrel looks kind of out-of-place in that position...

Forsaken_Angel24:
You have some...different artistic tastes, apparently.

I like the black Mav more, but the magazine might have looked better painted black with a red logo. Then again, the gun would be harder to take out in public... Either way, nice work.

They aren't weapons. Don't call them weapons. They're only weapons if you make them so.
