[Substance Abuse]

I was just wondering if anyone here plays any first or third shooter games online.

I Play half life 2 and counterstrike. I was thinking of making a Nerf Haven server if enough people played. (I will gladly pay for everything)

So basically post the games you play and your name in the Game.

Well rambo, I was thinking of running one off of my computer. I think my comp can hold maybe 10 people. So 10 people can be on at all times.

You have to think about not only your processing capabilities, but your intenet speed. This won't work if you have 112K ISDN or 128K DSL. I'd guess that you'd need at least 4+MB of up/down speed.

I would gladly do it and have the connection to, but I don't allow people to connect to me, sorry. If we get enough people interested we can pay for a server, it is not that expensive.

I've been known to play CS:S on occasion.

I much prefer the specialists half life mod and I also play F.E.A.R. online which is actually free.

To host a server what is the desireable upload speed? I can get over 6mbps down but only around 500kbps up.

Get a Soldat server. Much cheaper and almost everybody's computer will run it.

Umm, who wants to play 80's slide scrollers?

Ideally you want a lot of UP speed to host a server since people will be downloading from you. Whether they are downloading maps, sounds, etc. Even just playing there is a lot of interaction between the host and the player. Of course, you don't want 500kb down either.

500kbps up would probably not run that many players comfortably(6 is my guess), so I don't know if you want to.

No offense but soldat has to be the worst game ever made. The graphics suck and you have to pay 9 Dollars to get a "key"

You have clearly hardly if ever played soldat, and never online. You don't know how fun it is, and how easy it is for newer people to play. And it doesn't cost any money to play, only to register which only opens up like 2 more options and is pretty pointless unless you are only paying to support the ONE MAN that made the game.

Edit: And to you idiots who bash games other people play: fuck off. We don't want to hear how a game takes no skill or another game is old or whatever the fuck you have to say. Fuck you.

What WratH said. I play Halo PC and Battlefield Vietnam. I don't currently have Halo installed on my new computer but Battlefield is.

I still don't have a username on Battlefield but I can use my brother's (let you know it when I do).

I also like to CS but I don't own the game. And when I get FEAR and Painkiller I'm going to play those also.

Jesus whats with all the fuck you's? You guys are dissing CS as much as we are Soldat.

Soldat is not fun, at least for me, and getting started, it was the hardest game to get used to.

CS is not all spam, you just have to know where the good servers are. I for one, and I think a majority of the NIC, will not pay for a Soldat server before a CS/Other Steam Game Server. Again, if anyone is willing to contribute monthly to a server, PM me with details.

Let's not stray too far off topic with the side scrolling fanatics, neh?

Personally I play DOD:S the most lately with an occational CS:S game. I quit playing CZ and CS:S because of the horable server conections. It just didn't suit my connection speed. I would be glad to buy admin of a future site once you all get it up and running. Hopefully Adelphia would switch to Comcast buy then and we can get rid of our crappy DSL and go pure Cable lines.

I haven't done major admin powers in the past, just kick and slap, but you can always print comands out for mani admin...so contact me whenever you have a price for admin and a server established.

Taita I too have found the whole DoD community to be nice and friendly I also find that alot more women and older men play the game as well. It's a swell game too. I think 1.6 does take some skill, but spraying is like half the game. It's alot more serious of a game when you play in leagues and sound and strategy are major factors in winning.
