I tried to put a Defender spring into my crossbow. It wouldnt fire at all, so i put the old spring back in and it still barely fires. I have to pull it back, fire than pull it back and fire again to make the dart go anywhere. From what i can tell the internals are fine, i checked out pictures of the insides here at the haven. I can't figure out what is going on with it. If anyone can help me that would be really excellent. I'd really not rather trash it becuase its my favorite gun and it cost me over 50 bucks. If any one can help that would be amazing. I do not have a camera to post picture of the innerds otherwise i would have, sorry. Thanks for your time.

Did you rebarrel it? There might be too much barrel friction.

Or it could be leaking air in the connection from the plunger tube to the barrel.

It sounds like a barrel friction issue though.

I had the exact same problem with my bow a few years back. The problem, like Cmdrmack suggested was infact the barrel was to tight. You might be able to check and see if this is what is up with yours by putting a dart in the main portion of your barrel and leaving it a few days, then test firing it.

Here's what you at least need to do to your xbow to get it to work:
-Reinforce plunger with some kind of metal rod, and plumber's goop it in or epoxy.
-Reinforce wall where spring compresses against, it's square with a notch cut out with sheet metal.
-Increase seal of plunger head by wrapping e-tape around it and lubing it up with gun oil or graphite lubricant.
- Buy a bungee cord.


Then after that you can choose your barrel set up and what not, and play around with it until you get it working. An xbow is a pain in the ass before you figure it out. But, you definitley need banding if you don't have any to get it to work right.
