I just modded some new guns that are powerful. Sm 750, SM 1500, at2k, Nf with super spring replacement.

My darts were doing that spiral type thing and landed at around 35-60 feet depending on the gun. These ranes aren't good.

Then I used some 1/4" slingshot ammo and the same thing happened.

I am wondering what is going on?
When the dart spirals like that does that mean that the gun's force is too much for the dart causing it to go out of its path?
Thanks

Not sure. Are your stefan ends slanted a lot? Are they curled a lot? Low foam density?

Any number of factors could cause this, but I don't think it is weapon power.

Check if the holes for the weights were crooked or off-center. Also, did you sand off the posts in the barrels of the guns that were supposed to go into the backs of stock darts?

SupermaXX guns didn't have barrel posts, but that could be happening with the 2k and NF.

It was the SupermaXX guns that don't have posts? I thought it was another series. Oh well, live and learn.

I think, since Larami darts didn't need posts...

If Larami darts are the fat green ones with the red suction cups that are about 1.5cm in diameter, then I have one of those guns in my basement. It cracked a while ago, and is probably beyond repair now. That gun did have posts, though.

About the Stefans:
What method did you use to straighten the FBR? I heard that they shrink and the density can be messed up if you use a clothes dryer.

Actually, I use a clothes dryer to expand mine.

The problem is if you go too hot (Cotton -- Regular setting) the FBR will actually melt and then shrink and you can't make darts out of it if you wanted to. I use the Medium setting.

I thought the dryer could screw up the darts, but you use a reduced setting. How do the darts come out? I'm going to need to make some for a Longshot, after I mod it, and my shotty, and I need an effective drying method.

I use the dryer for my darts, Its by far the best method I've tried.

My darts are fine, they are striaght, holes centered, not slanted.

It's just the weight of the dart.

Do I need to add more?
Because 1/4 slingshot are pretty heavy....

Describe the way the darts spiral. Do they:

1) spiral vertically, meaning the darts flip end-over-end, but actuallt move straight from the gun
2) corkscrew, meaning that the darts spiral out of the gun in a way that the path seems circular or cylindrical to the shooter.

That will help you figure out what to do with the darts.

Ok, check to make sure that there aren't any edges in the barrel of your guns that could catch on the dart. Also, make sure that the foam is uniform and that the hot glue domes are reasonably even.

Try using a 1 inch dart with a BB as a weight and maybe extend the barrel. It may be the barrel it it is the first. If it is the second, the weight is off center, it maybe that there is more hot glue on one side of the dart.

You mean BB as in the .177 caliber BBs that I shred cans with, or the 6mm BBs that you can use in an airsoft gun. I wasn't sure because your darts are only half as big as most of the ones I've seen, and the hot glue dome might make up most of the required weight.

Darts corkscrew when there is too much excess pressure. So that means you need to make a longer barrel so the pressure runs out when the dart leaves the barrel. Try using a barrel that is two times longer than what you are using now.

I also did the NF super spring mod using the springs from Home Depot that are just a little longer than the NF's spring. Then, I added a 6" CPVC barrel and bored it out a little because my darts were a bit tight. I also did this mod to another NF. They get the same results. I shoot them across my living room and down the hallway (about 50 feet) and there is almost no perceivable drop. Sometimes the darts shoot up a little.

One day I'm going to make longer barrels for those NFs and see if they'll perform better. If I do that any time soon, I'll let you know the best length.

I mean the Zinc plated Daisy BBs available at most Wal-Marts. I don't use much hot glue on my dart tips now, I just use enough to secure the BB and a little on the top for a little bit more security.

Since this topic is up, with my NF the darts will spiral vertically flipping head over head. What do you do to prevent this?

First off, make sure that your darts aren't getting flattened or anything in the gun, and check the darts for bends. Make sure the barrel is smooth, and if you modded the gun with a different barrel than it came with, make sure that the barrel is straight. You should try to see if the weights are centered in the dart, but since the only problem is vertical spin, this is an unlikely reason. (The darts would also have spun horizontally if this were the case.) Other than that, just make sure that the pressure isn't uneven in different parts of the barrel because of holes or delayed/blocked air escapes. If this isn't helpful, then tell us everything you have tried so far.

I thought that only solved corkscrew patterns with the darts.

Cracker- No, that help for spiraling vertically
Nerfer- Make your darts slower and better
