Well, as you may or may not remember, I messed up my last Longshot baaaad. I slipped as I was sanding through the tube with the air restrictor, and tried a few things, but nothing worked. I had decided to give up totally when a friend said that I should put a different gun inside the case.

I stole his idea, and gutted my singled AT3K and stole its essential parts. Well, actually, only the airtank. I decided to use the RF20 pump I had sitting around. It fills up the 3K tank with about two pumps, and I didn't plug it, so it cuts down on priming time a bit.

The first order of business was gutting EVERYTHING out of the Longshot. The only things that are still Longshot parts are the trigger and the orange barrel piece. It turns out that the 3K airtank fits in pretty well to the place where the plunger used to sit. I glued it down and arranged it so that the pump would be outside on the left and the pin could be attached to the trigger.

To make the gun work with its original trigger, I epoxied and hot glued a big, hefty nail in between the pin and the plastic trigger on the LS. At first, this was okay, but eventually it began to flex and not pull the pin. I thought about it for a few days and what I can up with was two wooden triangles on each side of the nail, preventing it from moving in any direction besides backwards with the trigger pull.

For the barrel, I nested PETG into PVC and the nested the protruding PVC into copper piping, and then the copper got nested into the orange barrel of the gun. I didn't measure, but the barrel is definately over a foot long. Probably about a foot and a half.

On the outside, I did very little to the gun. The only thing that's changed is that there's a hole where the pump goes to the airtank, but that's covered with electrical tape. I also put on two Nite Finder ammo holder, both to support the pump tube and hold ammo.

Onto the pictures!

That's the two cases of the gun sitting on my (uber-messy) worktable.

Airtank in place.

Wood and nail trigger bridge.

Gun from front and side.

End of pump and ammo holders. Also, an electrical tape Konoha symbol. It's cut green electrical tape on black. I thought it was cool.

Next to a stock Longshot. Note that there is a clip in the stock; I only put it there to support the guns at the same height, THIS IS NOT A CLIP-FED GUN.

With scope.

Stock front gun attached; it shall be modded soon.

Ranges on this thing are really good, better than I expected. At two pumps, I'm definately going above fifty feet with great velocity. Also, when fired with no dart, it makes a totally menacing popping noise.

I set out to make an airgun inside one of the nicest cases that has ever been made, and I think I succeeded.

Questions? Comments?

<edit> Ah, I forgot. I came up with a name for it when I first began this project. It's "Frankensteve" for two reasons:
1.) It useses parts from four different guns, which would make it Frankenstein, but...
2.) ...My dad showed me this: Young Frankenstein + Steve Ballmer = Hilarious.

This is an ok modd... No I'm going to say what I really meant to. WHY? It's rather a good idea but why why why didnt you keep the clip system? The clip system is what makes the Longshot a good gun to begin with!

You can fool some people all of the time and everyone some of the time, but you cant fool all the people all of the time, but it sure is fun trying.

Spelling, and why not make something new? He said he did it because he liked the case, so making a good feeling very powerful gun is very rare, besides, the airtechs alone feel like crap when losing.

Ice nine, I have one question, how does the trigger feel? I would think it would be a little shaky/squishy because when I made an airtech in a nitefinder, it was very hard to adjust, however, that may be because there was really no space. Also, Im surprised you didn't use A 2000 internals. I havent really worked with 3000's, but I know for a fact that they are at dispose more than the 3000.

Dangaard, if you read my other topic, you would've seen that my Longshot's internals were SHOT. BEYOND REPAIR. I HAVE ANOTHER ONE. I didn't go with a clip system because I was having a problem creating a system that worked with the clip system in the Longshot.

Munson, thanks a lot for the defense there. I do love the Airtech's power, and yes, the Airtech 3K's feel is almost garbage. Now, to answer your questions:
The trigger itself feels incredibly sturdy. I think it's the wood making a covering a large surface area of the trigger making it smoother and less flimsy. Also, the case is a lot more open, so I was able to goop on the epoxy and hot glue.
I didn't use an AT2K because I don't have one, and probably never will. Bobert has one, and it's awesome (hint: the SCH 80 fits AA batteries perfectly), but I had two AT3Ks and when one has six PETG rotating barrels, the other one is fair game for destroying.

I do like the AT2K, though, it is smaller, but I think my Ubermaxx 750 easily outdoes it.

Pretty nice gun, but I don't get why you put it in such a LARGE gun. I personnally don't mind the feeling of an AT3K with a stock. Oh and how do you load it? I think it would be possible to keep the clip system in there and have the AT3K too. I also like the 6 shots of an AT3K.

I like it. Very creative and clean also. How long did it take you to make that beast?

Well, nothing official yet, but three pumps is really putting some power behind it. I think 70+ at three pumps.

I find it really comfy. I load it by dropping the darts down the barrel; they're loose enough to just slide down.

Hmm... It took me a day to clean the internals, but I worked slowly. Another day to glue and set the nail, and then one last day to glue on the wood triangles. I could've done it faster.

Nice Job, though I dont understand why people keep forsakeing the magazine feed on their Longshots. I just swapped out the spring and removed AR's and that gave the gun plenty of power. Can you post a video of this thing in action?

As I keep saying, I didn't FORSAKE the magazine feed. I broke the mechanism. I accidentally put a hole in the tube between the plunger and the barrel, meaning that it wouldn't function anymore.

Plus, I have another one. This one was damned either way, if I tried to fix it or if I left it alone.

I don't know why, but this thing puts out way more air than I ever remember it doing before. After a foot and half long barrel, the air still hits you in face like it had just come out of the airtank. I guess that speaks of the power in the 3K.

I'll put a video up on YouTube later today of it working.

Hey everyone, Icey's friend Bobert here. Ice Nine came over today and we filmed some shots and put 'em on Google Video. Here's the link:

Longshot 3000

We stopped using three pumps, the trigger was getting a tad funky and he didn't want to make it any worse.

We also did some measurements. Apparently, flat, this gun hits 60 feet with five foot dart skip flat on two pumps, which is respectable distance. It has good accuracy.

As a note, on the last shot in the video, Icey angled the shot and it went straight over the fence and into the neighbor's yard. So it goes.

Enjoy.
