I tried down that. Except it was with NF springs. It didn't work. They gun was really hard to cock, and it didn't catch. I then tried sanding down the catch since it was reall close to catching, and I reinforced it, but that didn't work either. You could also try to get ahold of two more manta ray springs and put them in the other spirng less plunger tube.
Thought I'm not sure how valid my results are, since my Manta Ray is in really bad condition, and when it was given to me, only one side would catch. But I do know that putting in an extra spring made it really hard to cock, and I'm almost positive it won't catch, unless you cut the catching mechanism like I did, then do something to reinforce it. Maybe sheet metal, I used a nail, and I don't recommend it.

My friend had a Manta ray, and it was awesome. I recommend you do some light modifications to the bun itself, and integrate two at2k's into it. That mod is floating around somewhere, it was pretty ill.
Good luck!-

I realize this isn't exactly what you want, but it seems almost as logical as replacing the springs.

I forget who, but someone took two NF's and actually put them on the bottom of the Manta Ray itself. I want to say baghead.
Baghead took two SF's (not NF's) and put the on the bottem of his manta ray. It's called the Sicklefin Devil Ray

Ok, but someone else did the same with NFs.
I'm not sure about NFs, but I recall Falcon did his AT2k Manta Ray integration with some success.
leetNerfer, if you can't find anyone who has tried doing the NF spring addition, perhaps you will be the innovator and be the first on the block to do so.
And then again, you can ruin your Manta Ray and never be able to use it again, even with stock springs.
Such is the choice the hardcore modifier must make, often. You can tell because we usually have huge bins full of broken guns.
Good luck!
