I am in need of a solenoid valve for my RF100. I am wondering what kind or brand to get. I have never had any experience with valves, so I need help. The valve needs to open and stay open. It also needs to be fairly small. Can they be controlled other than by pushing the switch? Thanks.

We should stop calling out/making fun of/pissing GC off. He's actually contributed and is available for trade. He's a better than average member no doubt. Got your back Cole.

Couldn't you use an actual solenoid to actuate the stock piston valve? I have plans semi related to this for my magstrike. I'll see if I can whip something up in paint for you to get the idea.

Solenoid valves tend to be wicked expensive (I work at a shop that used to use them for different projects). Basic solenoids on the other hand can be had for around $10 or less. Shop around at Jameco or Allelectronics.

The little critters of nature, they don't know that they're ugly. That's very funny, a fly marrying a bumble bee. I told you I'd shoot, but you didn't believe me. Why didn't you believe me?

A simple solenoid is probably best, and I imagine Radioshack sells them cheap. I have actually seen solenoids only slightly bigger than 1cm, but you might want something a little larger and easier to access. I think there's a special valve (can't remember the name right now) that you can buy seperately to hook up to one, but I'm not sure how or what size it is. If I can get the specifics, then I'll PM or post it.
