Well, this is my first post, but I've been here awhile. I've searched through the forums and haven't really seen anything answering my question.

Awhile ago I bought a Doubleshot, but now it's broken. I've been saving the parts in hopes that one day I may be able to use the remaining pieces to modify one of my better guns. The question I have is this; would it be feasible, or practicle for that matter, to use the air pump from the DS in another Nerf gun? Thanks for any help in advance.

Use the one way valve. These are hard to make on your own. But what you can salvage really depends on what broke.

You could always take out the springs and put them in another gun.

I think it would be cool if you found a way to fit two at2ks in the shell of the double shot. A shotgun case for those would be sick, just sick. Then paint it.

I actually think that is the best thing to do with a Double Shot.

I don't understand why you would want to use the firing mechanism from the Double Shot in anything anyway; it isn't all that powerful, it uses strings to cock it, and it's confusing and a bit complex all around. It was designed to cock around the break-action mechanism, which is a nice novelty, but limits what can be done with it in and of itself.

But it's got a great side by side shotgun look to it that is absolutely wicked (or Elmer Fudd, depending on how old you are). An air-powered blaster that looks like a side by side would be sick.

If you don't have two AT2ks, you could make it a single twin shot number, which is nice, but is not as useful as, say, twin 2ks for two separate shots (like a Splitfire). You'd have to use a PVC "T" coupler, or vinyl hoses leading to brass/ CPVC barrels. If I modded my son's one in that manner, I wouldn't use it for warring, just for dickin' around.

Some of the answers before mine...either they're confused as to what kind of blaster you're talking about, or they have no clue what they themselves are talking about. The Double Shot isn't air powered. The "barrels" are simply cosmetic in nature, and don't touch the dart on it's way out. All of the propulsion comes from the spring/plunger into the SHELLS and out the barrel. You could hack the whole barrel off, leaving just stubs, and the DS would still fire the same distance. The barrels on the DS are cosmetic, for that 'shotgun ' feel.

Good luck with the Double Shot. Forget about putting the insides in anything else, unless you want to spend a whole lot of time to get something with marginal performance.

Yeah, that's what I figured. I wasn't interested in using the whole cocking mechanism, just the pumps. But oh well, I guess I'll always have a few smaller springs and screws laying around for spare parts. Thanks for the help.

I actually tried this once but I had to place the airtank(from an at3k) at the base of the handle. I then tried to thread vinyl tubing from the tank, to a piece of cpvc glued in the existing plunger tube. Because the air had to travel such a huge distance all of its power was lost and the darts only went about 30 feet tops. I kept the original trigger(connected to the valve by a piece of hanger wire) and the shell ejection as well.

If you can get it so that the air tank is close enough to the original barrels than it just may work. Mine didn't because as I've stated, the air had to travel to far.

Since then I've dismembered the creation and did this.
