How is 1/4"od supposed to fit into 3/16" hole?

Cut it on an angle, and twist it in. The tubing is fairly flexible, so you should have no problems.

Around 3/16" or so. 3/16" will work, but if you can't seem to get it in there, feel free to widen it a bit.
