Just because a Nerf gun hasn't got 300' doesn't mean I can make something that resembles a "Nerf" gun that shoots Nerf things much farther than a Nerf gun.

I can see why you would be skeptical. 300' is pretty far for something to be shooting anything the pertains to Nerf.

I'm sorry to say that nerf guns with bigger tanks and better valves have not acheived 300 feet at a 10 degree angle with heavily weighted nerf micros. No offence, but I am skeptical.

I am extremely skeptical as well. I made a very powerful homemade that has a large chamber (~20 cubic inches) and definitely has a better valve (homemade semi-auto). I did some tests using very heavy homemade darts with 2" long bolts as weights. The best range I could get was 250 feet with these extra-heavy darts using about a 45 degree angle. Can you test your gun another time to accurately measure the range?

The homemade definitely has enough power behind it. Its chamber is definitely quite large. But the valve is horrible. Ball valves open extremely slowly. The really long barrel could cancel out the bad valve selection though. Again, the only thing that I can recommend is a retest.

I could try it again for you. I'm 100% sure I'll get the same results. I'll do a video later this week with a range test.

I'm also working on a new version with a sprinkler valve which will hopefully increase the range a little. I admit that the ball valve is pretty slow, but the barrel is extra long. I think the difference between my gun and yours is the ammo type. I don't think I can shoot micros at 300'. Although with all that air pushing behind a mega missle, maybe it is the reason the ranges are so high.

Oh and another reason this might be more powerful is because...Well the airtank capacity is almost 3 times bigger.

The volume of the chamber is almost 60 cubic inches compared to your 20 cubic inches.

Tests along with a video should definitely remove any doubt. I wouldn't doubt that a version of this gun with a sprinkler valve would have marked improvement in range compared to this one. I had size and air usage constraints when I was designing my gun, so that chamber is large but not too large.

Did you use PVC primer along with the cement? It appears as if you did not from the photos. If you are going to make one of these with a sprinkler valve, you definitely should use PVC primer. The primer cleans the pipe and prepares it to be solvent welded together. The bond is many times better if you use it.

Yes I did use primer. I just used it carefully. I didn't want it to get everywhere so the gun looks like a gay purple and sloppy.

The only thing on my mind after looking at this gun is... Imagine the impact of a stefan coming out of that badboy.

But seriously if you make it dart compatible then please make another video. Even though we wouldn't be able to see the gun it would still be an incredible thing to see.

Ryan - I apologize if it has been addressed previously, as I only skimmed the thread. The video looks like you shot it along the width of the football field, not the length, so I am confused as to your measurements.

No. It's the length of a football field. There isn't an upright on the other side of the field but the markers on the field are marked. You just can't see it in the video. I shot it behind the football field and it went to about the 40 yard line. I'm guessing I was 60+ yards back from the endzone.

I was wondering if it is possible to make a clip feed system on your Homemade gun. But if you could then you might have to cut the presure by I dont know 1/7 I think of its orignal power.

Hey, I was thinking about trying a Nerf gun with an air compressor as well, but first could you tell me how it worked out for you? I know you said it was in the mail a couple posts ago so I'm guessing you have it by now. How does it work? Would it be feasible to carry, say, in a backpack in a war? How long does a full charge last (or does it have to be plugged in all the time)?

Ah, yes, I forgot to add about that. The air compressor I got pretty much sucks balls. It takes forever to get to the desired PSI and the manual says you have to wait 10 minutes between each fill. I immediately returned it. I don't know if all battery operated air compressors are like this, but if they are, don't bother buying one. I have been using a high pressure air compressor that my dad uses for his nail gun. It works awesome but is enormous.

However, it would be pretty feasible to carry it in a backpack.

I was just thinking you could make a air chamber you can fill before hand and close off with a ball valve. This would reduce you having to charge your gun between each shot and give you a better chance at getting more shots off. Plus if you get strong enough foam you could make a spring clip made out of like balsa wood or probably Gel deorderent case thats clear and have a more ammo to use in a war or small battle.
