Bolt, ye are truly a god among men. Ye have earned yeself a place on Enigma's list of heroes, right below Sean Connery and directly above Papa Smurf...a highly honorable slot indeed.

I love using webshots to store all my pictures and art that I find across the web. Just open the program, click on the folder in which the pictures are in and then double click on the thumbnail of the pic you want to be your computers wallpaper. I have been using it for about 6 years. This software also allows you to use all your pictures as a screensaver. www.webshots.com

I don't get my kicks out of you,
I don't feel the way I used to do.
I know its bad,
After what we had,
But I’m just not the angel you knew.

The little critters of nature, they don't know that they're ugly. That's very funny, a fly marrying a bumble bee. I told you I'd shoot, but you didn't believe me. Why didn't you believe me?

Blender (blender.org)- Open source freeware 3D program that I feel is comparible to Maya, a $7,000 industry leading beast to try to use. It can do any kind of 3D work you have need of doing (Movies, stills, polygons, nurbs...)
Sketchup- I believe it's made by google and there is a freeware version, but it's another (less complicated) 3D software that is an architectural must have. It is also capable of designing mechanical bits and peices, and might have uses on the homemade front if I ever got around to figuring out what sizes of PVC I have available and what size darts are.
Google Earth- Sattelite view of the world, also freeware from google. Really stinking cool, it can measure my house (It's near seattle, so the shots are higher quality than if you live in the boonies) to within ~2' accuracy.

Mozilla Firefoz - great web browser. Mozilla Firefox>Interent Explorer
The GIMP - www.gimp.org, great image editing/ paint tool
iTunes - I think it is good even if you don't have an iPod.
I second Google Earth, but I personally have had bad experiences with Trillian.

The only thing I dislike about Trillian is that if I am downloading even just 20kbps out of my 10mpbs, it seems to take forever to sign on. Other than that, it pwns anything.

THE ULTIMATE FREE SOFTWARE SEARCH ENGINE dun dah dah dun! Sourceforge
Software:

Audio And Video:
Have any songs that have long blank spaces in the middle that annoy you? Want to rid yourself of the seconds of bordem? Mp3 Direct Cut is my first choice. It can be used for other things, but that is what I mainly use it for.

Want to get files OFF your iPod onto your computer? Or share with friends? EpHPod is what you need. Any Music or Video files can be stored onto your hard drive with it.

Tired of programs like iTunes labeling files wrong? Want them to be correct for any program, rather than how they are just displayed in iTunes? You need to edit your tags with Mp3Tag.

Tired of shitty iTunes? Get foobar2000 for all your music needs(even eliminates some of the above programs).

Archiving/Compressing

Better than WinZip......WinAce

Chat

Trillian - already mentioned, but great
Ventrilo - Voice chat - commonly used for internet gaming out of game chat
Teamspeak - basically same as Ventrilo, but more complicated + les bandwitdh use
Skype - Internet Telephony
Google Talk - IM and voice chat - requires Gmail account(let me know in a PM if you need said account).

Protection
Trojans?

Ad-Aware - Scans your hard drive for malicious content that most virus scanners like Norton and McAfee don't pick up
Housecall - Best free virus scan out there(McAfee could be better, but if you want free, check this out).

More some other time.

Nvu is an awesome web editing software for any platform that blows everything except for Dreamweaver out of the water.

Everything else I would mention has been said already.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I downloaded a bunch of those. CCleaner is my favorite, my computer is much faster now. Also I found palfun which is an add on to AIM. The site doesn't always work though.
