As usual my dad is Like Oh my god why would you bring guns to school, and so forth. So we're driving and he says "You know what, I think you have to many nerf guns. Nerf isnt going to get you anywhere in life and don't you think that this is a bit child-like."
I replied " Dad, there are thousand and thousand s of people around the world that nerf and there are some that are in their 20's-50's."
I basically expected this next one..." Yeah and look where they are. They probably have achieved nothing by playing with plastic toys and they probably have no life."
Then this whole situation started " Dad listen, Nerfing is just for fun and I have fun doing it. And about the people having not completed anything, So what!!!! They do it for the same reason I do."
So me and him are not talking as he insulted me and all of you for playing with nerf guns. I told him to piss off and I'm sure this is going to be a quiet weekend....
At least I have BCNW on Sunday to nerf with some 'Jerseyans.

I'd recommend discussing this with your dad in a calm, logical way. Having an explosive argument is likely to not solve anything, as he still retains the parental right to do whatever he wants to you and your Nerf guns.

So the war is still for sure on? That sucks though, and nextime tell him that there are some nerfers who are very successful or are in college on their way to becoming very successful. Talk about ignorance(no offense to you dad intended).
No offense taken. My dad just has to be "Mature" about everything and sometimes it just pisses me off.
Edit: Lunch, I tryed explaining to him that most nerfers are very successful..
I'm just going to use Groove as an example. He is on his way to be a great artist. He went to college and look where he is now. He is a role model of mine and I think that he inspires me to keep nerfing.

I was hosting a Nerf war in southern michigan and all of a sudden they started saying that none of this could happen and I was too obsessed with Nerf, so they are not letting me buy any more guns. (sorry six-five-two) They are saying I an 'addicted to Nerf' and that is not good, for some reason. The war is now reduced to parent okayed guns and parent okayed people at my house. I cannot wait until I can do a Nerf war by my self... it will be the greatest.....

I am lucky. My parents put up with all the shit I have laying around the house. I took Nerf and started an ebay business out of it, which my parents thought was awesome.
I'll come home one day with bags full of Nerf guns and they really don't care, they just laugh.
I'm sorry to hear you guys have strict parents. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I keep good grades and I have a job. I'm also almost 18, and I think they rather have me Nerf than play airsoft or paintball.

Don't do anything illegal . But technically if you live in his house and you are misbehaving enough it doesn't matter two rats' asses if you bought it with your money, he can still take it. At this point he will whip out something like this: "As long as you live in my house, you will live by my rules, and my rules are no innapproiate websites, and until you demonstrate to me that you can adhere to that rule, you don't get this stupid immature gaming piece of crap that isn't worth $250(actually the stupid gaming bit is me )"I think I will save for a PSP and then get a wireless internet adapter put in my house. Then I'll access all the sites I want to! He won't be able to check because I can do whatever I want with my stuff. He won't be able to take it because it rightfully belongs to me, they always go by the rule "buy it with your own money and you can do whatever you want with it." Ha, I now know that I can win.
Yeah, my mom can be tough about a lot of shit, but thankfully she lets me nerf with praise. She thinks it's good for me to be active and be social(which I'm not very outside of a small group of friends locally).
I think one thing that was really a major part of her support for nerf was the first war I went to. She took me, which many parents are probably unwilling to do since they work hard during the week and don't want to spend the whole day in the car(since it was a 1.5hr drive, it would have been senseless for her to drive home). Luckily her profession(poker) allows her that flexibility. But she watched a bit of the war - which I looked like a retard at since I usually took something like 12 unmooded guns into each round since I had just discovered the NIC and all of my mods had failed. Anyway, she saw me running around and said, that looks like good exercise, I think he should do it more often. She even loaned me some cash to buy modding materials and already modded guns. I guess she is more openminded than many parents, but I think if most of them see you at a real war(not a backyard bit), they will change their minds a bit.

My parents get like that once in a while. Like ill be sanding down barrels in my garage and my dad will come through the door and be like " Put it down you spend to much time on that thing." Or he'll be like " Hell no im am not spending 10$ on a plastic gun." He uses that when i say i'll pay him back. So just roll with it, counter everything he does with something that will really open his eyes to see how good nerf is. At least we aren't shooting Amish Schools or taking hostages in Colorado.
That is kind've messed up how you brought up the amish thing....
Good point but don't use something bad like that as an example.

I am 23 years old and I want to get suggestions about which guns I should get and which ones to avoid.
That was from June.
The other thing is I have a job and get payed.... hell I have 2 jobs and i'm only 14. And my grades arnt the best but hell at least I dont fail like half the people I know....
That was from yesterday.
So, are you 14, or 23?
Good luck getting your dad to support you. If he keeps bothering you about it, just ignore it and keep at it. Maybe after a while he will realize you're really into it and won't quit doing it just because of what he says. It's stupid when people stereotype Nerf as being for little kids but it happens, so just deal with it the best you can.

My dad gets mad when I buy more expensive guns, but I don't let it bother me. My mom thinks it's great that I have a hobby; as long as there's someone you know that supports you don't worry about what one (or even most) people say.

Act like a dick, get treated like a dick.
I've seen way too many examples of young adults, who are still under the protection and parentage of the family home, who behave and treat their parents like "retards", like "they owe me what I want, I didn't ask to be born", and the ever so popular "you're trying to run my life, give me a break!"
Well hear, hear people. Your parents DO give you a break.
The day you pack up, move out, find a place to live ON YOUR OWN (no "can I borrow" crap), and work, is the day you can tell Mom and Dad to piss off. Otherwise, we own you.
Amazingly, when that day comes, you appreciate Mom and Dad immensely. I'm in the position now where I have Mom and Dad come and stay with ME every other month, so we can catch up, etc. My turn to return the favor.
With that said, I have a question for Substance;
I am 23 years old and I want to get suggestions about which guns I should get and which ones to avoid.
That was from June. The other thing is I have a job and get payed.... hell I have 2 jobs and i'm only 14. And my grades arnt the best but hell at least I dont fail like half the people I know....

WHY, I'd like to know, does your dad give you such grief about Nerf being "immature", but seems to not mind your older brother (24), who lives in the same household, playing with "toys"?
As usual my dad is Like Oh my god why would you bring guns to school, and so forth. So we're driving and he says "You know what, I think you have to many nerf guns. Nerf isnt going to get you anywhere in life and don't you think that this is a bit child-like."

I basically expected this next one..." Yeah and look where they are. They probably have achieved nothing by playing with plastic toys and they probably have no life."
I'm really curious.

My brother does NOT live in their household. I have gotten into fights with my dad to the point where he basically straight out asked me if I wanted to live with my brother.
I respect my dad and I don't act like a dick. He takes out most of his anger on me and then I get to the point where I can barely keep myself together.
So now you know why I think the way I do.
It should be more like... My dad treats me like a dick so then I dont treat him like a dick, Then he doesnt stop and then maybe.... Just maybe I treat him like a dick.
