Hey, maybe you have something there! Try it yourself instead of asking others. You could develop something great!

To answere the question, other materials are expensive, so they use balsa. It is maluable and can do the job. The next step up would be a gel deoderant container. The next step up which you are looking for is probably plexyglass constructed into a clip. This would be sort of dificult, but possible. Good luck!

In war, one death is a tragedy, a million deaths is a statistic...

I know not what WWIII wil be fought with; however, WWIV will be fought with sticks and stones...

I don't get my kicks out of you,
I don't feel the way I used to do.
I know its bad,
After what we had,
But I’m just not the angel you knew.

Why don't you do Ompa"s clip and just use a different material?

I've been using fiberglass-coated balsa for the strong, detailed things I need. The balsa can be put into pretyt much any shape with some sandpaper, and the fiberglass coat is easy and cheap to get and adds more than enough strength for anything Nerf, when applied properly (entire drying time, good application, etcetera).

many have used cassette cases as clips (the names of these people escape me).

I have also used a different type of casing for my own spring-fed clips; described in:4Bmod and re-visited in my mod for the ERTL-FS1010 shotgun.

Carrtoon also came up with an interesting, much different air pressure-fed magazine for his 3B.

There are lots of possiblities, depending on the type of blaster, ammo and materials you have handy.

I've switched to using Plexiglass for my clips.

Plexiglass
-Expensive

Hahaha! Right...
You can make clips out of 1/16th" or 1/8th" polycarbonate for extremely low prices. If you want cheaper than balsa wood you simply have to do some legwork and find a plastics shop near you that sells their offcuts. My nearest source sells plastic for $1 per pound.

Don't use "plexiglass" for your clips. Acrylic, acrylite, lucite, and many other are too brittle to be used in a nerf gun. Polycarbonate, polyester, polyethylene, and ABS on the other hand are pretty friendly materials to work with and are far more durable.

The little critters of nature, they don't know that they're ugly. That's very funny, a fly marrying a bumble bee. I told you I'd shoot, but you didn't believe me. Why didn't you believe me?
