Anyone else smell a new replacement for the old nightfinder, or is it just me.

I smell some bs ranges or some innacurate measuring.
Use a 100' tape measure and hold the gun parallel to the ground.

And is it possible to make a new turret and lose little ranges? That would really bring the Maverick up.
and it'd take one hell of a pistol to knock it off its pedestal.
I think my LnL beats my NF. But I haven't tested my NF's ranges since the brass barrel and spring replacement.

At first I thought that the 73 said 63 and I would believe it. Unfortunately i dont think a mav is really capible of 73. Maybe it's just me but I say bs.

It's not just you. Perhaps some pics would help.

The Nite Finder isn't being replaced. Sorry to burst your bubble.
As for powersniper's mod:
Props. People have mentioned single-barreling a Mav off and on for quite some time, but nobody ever did it for fear of being called stupid. Good job. Sounds like you've got yourself a decent pistol now!

range thing- tested again (this time no wind, but there wasn't too much wind in the first place), I used different darts this time and now I got more like a consistant 50'-65' range. I'm taking the measurement of the fall and land of hte dart, not just about how many feet it went before starts to drift.
Sorry for the upset.
Me- WHAT?!?!

Regardless of how real the ranges he's posting are, I don't think it's anything close to being a replacement for the Nite Finder. It'd HUGE compared to the Nite Finder. You can't holster a maverick comfortably. Sure, you can holster them, but they're just too unwieldy. This snub-nosed version of the Mav is still really tall (top to bottom of gun) and is a bit unwieldy compared to a Nite Finder.

It, and by "it", I mean the maverick, wasnt built to be a one shot pistol like the night finder, its supposed to be able to get 6 shots out before having to reload, whereas the Nf only got one. So it makes sense that it dosnt fit as snug as a gun that only shoots once.

And about the "stupid" maverick mod, it dosn't sound anywhere as dumb as a rocket launcheer shooting a single dart.
But the point of that mod is that the "rocket launcher" has a ludicrously large air reservoir, so the single dart will go quite a ways. However, the maverick's internals are no better, and I would say even worse, than the nitefinder's, making the point of this mod... ?
Don't get me wrong, I've thought about doing just this. I like the mav's looks a lot more than the nitefinder's, and I'm sure it's a slick little gun, it just lacks conventional purpose.

The thing is all ready to be put together but almost all my modding stuff (bondo, brass, epoxy) is at Flaming Hilt's house and I have not had the time to go over there.
Oh yea and Cmdrmack: Flaming Hilt was for awhile was like obsesive about trying to improve the mav (so much so that he went through like 8 of them)

Also, I have found that by adding a barrel out side the plunger system, it sucks.

Wait, so you didn't do this mod and you lied about the ranges? So, the mav doesn't really get 60ft... Why didn't you say so at the beginning? So... if you can't put the barrel outside the plunger system are you supposed to put it inside? You don't make sense.Ok, I didn't do this mod to my mav. for more capability or to somehow improve it. I did this so that if you're modding one and break/make the turret unusable, you could still use the frickn' thing.

This is an example of why proper grammar is so very important.
Powersniper abbreviated the word "maverick" by typing "mav."
NiteWalker, understandably so, mistook the sentence as "Ok, I didn't do this mod to my mav. For more capability or to somehow improve it." As in, Powersniper didn't do the mod, but was posting it. As in stupid.
But in actuality, the abbreviated word "maverick" makes Powersniper out to say, "Ok, I didn't do this mod to my maverick for more capability or to somehow improve it". Which is sensible, since he basically was trying to rehab a broken Maverick.
I hate to sound like a grammar Nazi, but it's things like these that make the forum begin to descend to a middle-school playground chat box.
And saying "we can figure it out", won't do, since NiteWalker had aptly misread into Powersniper's post to begin with. We shouldn't have to read every poster's minds as to what they were trying to communicate.
BACK ON TOPIC...
About the mod...I don't know precisely, but I think that Crossfires have similar, if not the same, air delivery as the Maverick. And my son's Crossfire got 40-50 feet STOCK with Tagger darts, a bit angled up (6-8 feet trajectory). I'd tend to believe more around 50-60 feet modded, hence the redeeming post a bit afterward.

In other news, the grammer on this site is refreshing to an English Major such as myself. In spite of the occasional misinterpretation like we've had here, everything is very clear and easy to read, then again, I'm not up on all the chat lingo you kids use.
