Yeah, you won't need a solenoid in order to make an air-powered breeched nerf gun. If you want feel free to use the valve configuration I designed for my ABP (which I will no longer be able to get around to making).
http://nerfhaven.com...?showtopic=6598You really don't need to buy that $100 kit. All you need is a tank of some kind and an adjustable regulator (anywhere from $5 to $50 depending on the max PSI rating). With a nice large PVC tank at 150 PSI with a $6 regulator to step down to 10psi to power your gun you can have a very sustainable supply of air at very little cost.
Or you can buy a decent scuba or HPA tank for around $80
Any tank will have to be refilled one way or another. And if you go with something that's at such a higher tank pressure you won't be able to fill it yourself unless you have a compressor.
Instead of making ABP I've decided to simply convert a magstrike into the same thing. I will be replacing the stock tank with a thicker walled 150psi tank then regulate that with a cheap airbrush regulator I got on eBay. Then I can fill the tank with a bike pump or a motorized pump.

The little critters of nature, they don't know that they're ugly. That's very funny, a fly marrying a bumble bee. I told you I'd shoot, but you didn't believe me. Why didn't you believe me?
