has any one experimented on replacing the barrel on the long shot (big gun).
also would it help accuracy or distance by taking the barrel from the front gun and rreplacing the smaller barrel in the long gun?

I haven't bothered experimenting with barrel replacements on the longshot because I'm getting 90 feet after all the other stuff I've done to it.
I'm more interested in machining a higher capacity magazine.

The little critters of nature, they don't know that they're ugly. That's very funny, a fly marrying a bumble bee. I told you I'd shoot, but you didn't believe me. Why didn't you believe me?

so is putting 9/16 brass in the gun, instead of the barrel is the best barrel replacement?

besides barrel the best you can do to improve the gun is to remove the air restrictors, remove the peg, and put in a bbb spring (cut off 3 loops)? Is this true, is there more? is this wrong? i really want feed back.

You can't replace just the barrel, you have to add a lip to the inside of the bolt as well and the ID of that lip has to match the ID of the barrel. And your barrel will have to meet up with the bolt when the bolt is in the forward position.
And 9/16" brass is much smaller than the stock barrel ID and will be difficult to secure in a way that will line it up perfectly with the brass insert you will have to add to the bolt.

The reason few people have done this is because you're not modifying just the barrel. The bolt and barrel have to meet up cleanly enough to form a seal. If they don't do that then there's very little advantage to a barrel replacement.

Bigger
The bolt "swallows" the dart in the top of the magazine because the dart-tooth keeps the dart from being pushed into the chamber. Replacing the barrel won't be enough to improve the performance of the gun if the bolt doesn't make a decent seal with your replacement barrel AND the chamber.
For the full set of images that shows the priming cycle of the internals of the gun check my post on this forum page: http://nerfhaven.com...852

If you still don't have any idea what I'm talking about you may want to avoid trying to modify a Longshot because it's very complicated gun.

I'd add that you should be careful adding the barrel, as it's easy to get a slightly larger barrel and put it too far back, making the slim loading guide snag and the whole shebang not work. I should know.

A short insert to put on the inside of the "mouth" of the bolt so that the new Inner Diameter matches the Inner Diameter of your barrel replacement.

To barrel mod of a Longshot you have to put a barrel insert in both the bolt, and the chamber.
