Me and my friend are going to start a nerf gun club at our school. The school we go to has 4400 kids in it so were hoping at least ten people will come. Most people at our school that know we nerf think it is lame and a kids game. I think if we show them that nerf is not a kiddie game and you can make the guns go really far, then people would like it. We hope to meet once a week and plan a nerf war, and show them the modded guns and stuff. Have any of you guys done this? How did it turnout? Any ideas you think we should do? Feel free to post.

A NERF club at school? Sounds like an ok idea. I guess you'd have to find a teacher willing you let you use their room. And if you were to make it official, I suppose that you'd have to run it by the principal or something. If you can get it started it sound like a pretty good idea. Do you already have a group of people? It would certainly greaten your odds of getting it going. I do see one problem though. It is after all, a gun club, and i know my school's motto is "if it even looks like a gun, your DONE!". But yeah, good luck. I hope it works out for you.

The school is huge, I dont think finding a room will be a problem. For publicity, the clubs are read off in the morning announcments. I also think if the school has a paintball club then why not a nerf club. I am going to talk to my advisor tommorow and see what he thinks. Thanks for the comment.

HM, I just stared one, do you think our clubs could meet? Find a science teacher that isn't 80+ years old.

We should stop calling out/making fun of/pissing GC off. He's actually contributed and is available for trade. He's a better than average member no doubt. Got your back Cole.

Dang, a paintball club? Wow... one time a kid got caught with a squirt gun on our school and got suspended for three weeks... you are very lucky to have a school district that is that flexible. I've thought about starting a Nerf club at my school, but... yea...

As for the title, I'd just call it "The Nerf Club." I think as soon as you put the word "gun" in, it gets to sounding a little... well, bad, in general. I think if I were a newcomer, my mom would like it better if I came home saying "I'm part of the Nerf club!" than "I'm part of the Nerf gun club!" I know it sounds stupid, but it's little words like that that can catch someone's attention.

I am, however, interested to see how this is going to work out, so be sure to keep us updated. : o)

Not that I dislike nerf or anything, but I think that's a bad idea. First off, have fun finding a teacher to sponsor you, and have fun getting it approved. In my district the actual district approves the club not the school. I doubt they will approve something like that. I'm not saying it can't be done, but good luck.

If there's a paintball club you shouldn't have a problem, especially after they figure out that paintball is a lot more dangerous than Nerf. And if you keep telling them that it is a child's game, that might help a little.

I'm in the process of starting a NERF club too! You're starting it at ETHS, right? Maybe if we can both get this going, we can nerf-it-up in the Chicago-land area.

I'm passing the club on as the NERF Research and Development Club. Sounds like a science club, right? That's the idea. When researching and developing a product, you must brainstorm (think of a mod), design (figure out how a mod will work), develop (do the actual mod), and test (shoot it at other members).

I also brought a duffle bag filled to the point of bursting into school once last year, and I took it past the security and right next to the principle  . I stuffed it in my locker & after school, it was like "Holy s**t man! You brought guns to school?" & "Sweet, can I see one of those?" Of course I said, "Hey you guys can play, but we need to do this in an organized matter." I passed out some papers explaining the rules and how to play. After discussing how to load and fire a NF or a Mav, we put together teams and got the party started. It was extremely fun, and my friends and I took over with some modded FF (we were the only ones with heavily modded gun). After the day was done, I sold 10 of the 16 guns I started out with.

If I did succeed in creating a NERF club at school, there would be more than enough members to have a good sized war (10-20) every week  .

The trick to creating a club like this at school may be to make it look like a club that has educational aspects to it. There are a lot of great articles here on NH to pull stuff from to make your club appeal to the teachers.

Good luck!

I have great news! I talked to my advisor and he said that if it would be a great idea. I showed him the whole nerfing community and he thought it was really cool. I am going to make a binder of "why this should be a club at New Trier high school", and I need your guys help. What should i put in it? Mods? Homades? Basic nerfing? Please, I want a lot of feedback and what I should put in. Also, he said if everything goes well, we could organize a war in the gym, with mats and stuff set up.

I think a really good approach would to contact your wood shop or metal shop and make the club more focused on the modding and refer to it as "enginering". For example the first meet bring in a few Nf's record the unmodded distance let the meambers expirment with them and then record it. If it's to vilolent it will be shut down.

Find a science teacher and talk about measuring barrell speed, air compression, or give a live demonstration in class (with their approval).

That sounds like a lot of fun. Some kids at my school bring in like real guns but they often get caught and get expelled/suspended. They must think they are cool or (whatever).

Anyway I talked to my guidence teacher about starting a nerf club and of course the first thing he thought about was safety. I assured him that all of the participants in the club will be wearing a pair of goggles/glasses.

Then the question arised " How will you make it so that people in the club will be active" and "How are you going to play with the nerf guns."

I showed him NH and NHQ and went into the wars forums such as the gedden war and a couple others that had pictures and he automatically agreed that this was a good idea.

As of right now I am handing out flyers and having announcements read over the PA system. We have had one meeting so far and 21 kids showed up. After the meeting about 10 more were at the door wanting to join.

I am 14. And as I stated in my post I got about 30-40 people to join... I mean I am a freshman and I have seniors joining so I must be doing something right.
