Car insurance took me by surprise...leaving me with, well, not nearly enough money to drive 5 hours to DC. It's a pretty big bummer for me, but hopefully sometime in the near future I'll travel out to Nerf with some of you guys.

Updated the attendance list on this page. I'll continue to update it as people flake out and/or decide to come at the last minute. Less than 2 weeks away!

However, Let's plan on meeting up with all the guys afterwords at a TGI Friday's, or Ruby Tuesdays, or something of the like afterwords to chill and get some dinner. Sound good?

What kind of stuff is there to do in DC? Visit the capitol? I am not trying to sound like I am mocking the idea, I'm merely interested in if you have anything outlined yet.
I do think the idea was eat food and jerk around.
FYI, The NJ crew will be coming down on Friday night and staying till the war. We are planning a day trip to DC the day before, so anyone who will be around the area at that time can also go. We will be staying in college park, MD and taking the Metro into DC.
I may be interested in heading to dinner or something with you guys for a few hours.

As outlined in the image above
Red: Not advisable to fiddle around in this area for various reasons
Yellow: Nothing of real interest in these areas unless there's a specific restaurant you want to go eat at.
Purple: The Chinatown district is safe, but only during the day time.
Is there something specific you're interested in visiting?
For food there's
Blackies on M street
Old Post Office Building Food Court
Crystal City and Pentagon City Malls.
The restaurant at the Native American Museum
The limited selection of fast food at Air & Space
The plethora of restaurants on streets north of the National Gallery along Pennsylavania Ave going all the way west to 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th streets (Sports Bars, etc.)
Or if you just want to drink yourself silly at the bar with the longest beer menu in the country there's
BRICKSKELLER
Dining House and Down Home Saloon
1523 22nd St, NW
Washington, DC 20037
If you want to tour the capitol building the best way is to visit the office of your district representative and you can start a much more interesting tour from there.
Keep your wallet in your front pocket, and don't give change or bills to street beggars. They make more money in a week than you do in a month.

What goes down at night? I'm sure a shot to the eye from a NF would get them off anyone's ass.
Man I wish I could go to the bar; this fucking country....
Thanks for all the info though. My mom wants to stay overnight, but I'm not to keen on the idea. I may end up giving in though

At night (after 8pm) all the friendly and nice people go indoors to have dinner. During the day it's just as cute as the rest of the mall, but at night it can get about as shady as even the worst areas in DC.What goes down at night?

Assuming I can get a ride out there, I'm in for certain.
Sorry for my lack of presence; this week has been midterms, and I've been spending all my spare time studying. I'll be back to regular forum presence probably starting Friday.

I am leaving NJ with Evil and Dark Shrimp Friday night. We are heading to a hotel in Rockville and probably won't get there until 10-11PM.
Saturday, we are spending the day in DC. Not that it affects anyone directly, but all are welcome to come. Later that night I will probably be in baltimore to see my girlfriend for a while.
I have to talk to her and to Shrimp and Evil about this, but here's my options.
1) Leave Shrimp and Evil in Rockville and stay in baltimore for the night. I can then easily pick up ompa, as I am 2 mins from Hopkins. I can then swing back to rockville, pick up my troops, and it's off to the war.
2) Same as 1, except I detour and pick up Veggie. Veg, I can bring friends of yours too, but we are going to have to work out the logistics b/c my car fills up with you as the 5th passenger.
3) I stay in rockville and get up early to drive to baltimore and pick up ompa. If this is the case, I most likely will NOT want to pick up Veg. Nothing personal man, but that's just a lot of friggin driving.
Of course I will return you to your residences after the war, as we will be heading your way anyway.
I plan to leave MD between 4 and 5 PM.
I will have the final plan when I get home for sure tonight,
Ompa and Veg, look for a PM from me.

I just bought a Big Blast (LBB knock-off) and was wondering if I would be allowed to fire homemade missiles out of it. The thread is right here. I expect them to get no more than about a hundred feet angled, I just thought they'd be fun to use and it would be a good opportunity to test them.
See you all in four days!
EDIT: Changed seventy to a hundred.
Most likely yes, however all gun rulings are made after seeing the gun fire. I don't imagine it will kill anyone though, so we are good I think.
See everyone soon. Expect about 7 local DC guys.
I made the drive from the war site to Annapolis last night and it was about an hour and a half at around 4:45PM, about 45 minutes or so on the way on the way back (around 7:30PM) I'd just go by mapquest.
Depending on where in Rockville, it shouldn't be more than 20 minutes. Again, anyone who needs my phone number PM me or hit me up on AIM.
