So I've been reading these boards for a while and I haven't really noticed a suggestions area, which I think is a shame. Maybe to avoid lots of stupid or nonsensical suggestions it could be moderated pretty heavily. I've noticed that there's a huge "just do it yourself" attitude around these parts, and while that isn't bad, I do think that a bit more collaboration could be really good. The thread could be centered around actually do-able modifications that the poster is maybe just short of the skill required to do.

I'll kick things off, and maybe this thing will work.
I have two things in mind. Firstly, the crossfire seems pretty invaluable as it has the rail connection and a pretty decent output. This means it could serve pretty well as a bolted-on backup shot, but the handle is something of a hassle, especially since most rails on nerf guns are on top. This means you have a hell of a lot of gun sticking up into your line of sight, and aiming is a challenge. Would taking off the handle and relocating the firing mechanism be possible? The trigger could possibly be cut drastically down and made into some sort of slider.

Secondly, I'm a fan of internal, permanent magazines (look at real bolt acion rifles for an idea of what I'm talking about. Effectively, the breech opens and you jam darts in through it to a non-removable magazine). The advantage that this has would be a much more streamlined shape (and it would fit with the long-rifle theme a lot of us want from our longshots) if the bottom of the magazine was cut away. The only problems I can think of would be that the opened breech has waaay too much crap in the way to acually jam darts in through that. Thoughts?

Wow first off I just want to say that that is one heck of a good post for a first post. Good job!
I think a suggestions thread is an excellent idea. But most people just make a thread if they are having trouble with a gun. What I propose is that one of the admins creates a new forum titled suggestions/ help. But yes there are some pretty cold people around here; I think that this hypothetical forum have very strict guidelines regarding how people respond to questions and suggestions.

As for your other stuff: One way the cross fire could go on to the other gun would be to attach a rail from another gun to a different location on the gun. you could get the rail off of a broken gun(which for me would be my broken maverick)

And actually there have been people that have made magazines like that. The first one that comes to mind is Boltsniper's new sidearm. And I'm sure other people have made internal magazines too. But as for putting one on a longshot I dont see why you would, it is alot faster to just put One magazine of what is it like 6 darts in at one time as aposed to putting each of those darts in individually.

Well the purpose of the internal magazine in the longshot is mostly aesthetic, though I also believe that with a magazine that doesn't have to be changed out the dart placement could be more regular (where seating in he chamber is concerned) and we could start to think in that direction to get the most consistent accuracy from the longshot.

What I really want to know about that is what all would need to be cut off for a dart to fit in through the top, and if after cutting it all off the gun would still function and feed normally.

It's pretty much impossible to keep such things down to earth, and that's why we tend not to like the idea of a suggestion thread.

If you have an actual concept or question that makes sense and you're actually planning to do, then start a thread for it, and people will help you. We just don't like people proposing designs that they obviously aren't going to build, or people who are just being lazy by asking us before at least trying to build something simple.

As for your questions:

1) It would be quite easy to take the handle off a crossfire. Instead of building a slider setup, I think it's better to attach a button directly to the catch. I've done this to a NF before, and it worked quite well. It's nice, because you can attach it to the crossfire, and cock both guns at the same time with the NF loop.

2) It's kinda pointless to convert an already clip-loading gun into a fixed-mag one, but if you're building a homemade, by all means go ahead.
