I have read on nhq that you cannot use stefans in the longshot. Yesterday I made a stefan the exact size of the new darts and it worked as well if not better as the stock darts. The one specal thing I did to the dart was roll it between my hands a little bit to make it softer. Has anyone else used stefans in there longshots without modification? If so what were you'r results?

I have tried to use my stefans in my longshot and I got them to go about as far as a stock dart goes when it the gun was stock. I think that my stefans were too fat, as I can't stack them in the clip (they get stuck).
Going to be sticking to moding the tag darts.

Hey guys...First time poster, long time Nerfer.

Anyway, I've also been curious about using Stefans in the Longshot ever since I bought it recently. I made a batch of micro-Stefans for my Mavericks (I've had this nick long before the gun was ever conceived, btw ;P but based on the name alone I had to buy them, heh), and attempting to use these in my Longshot resulted in failure. The dart itself fits fine in the clip, and appears to fit in the barrel alright, but for some reason it either gets pushed too far forward, or not far enough forward, and results in the dart either not firing and/or being able to just fall out of the barrel. What I'd really like to know is if the restrictor is removed from the gun, can these be used? Or is the only option to just use Stefan-converted micro-darts? Thanks for the help.

Using homemade ammo is still possible. The problem with our regular stefans is that they are too short and do not get pushed far enough into the barrel, effectively making the barrel about 1'' long. I was able to fire my stefans by using a ramrod to push them into th barrel, after the gun was cocked. Of course, this removes the longshot's great RoF. Probably the best way is just to make the stefans longer, but not necessarily as long as stock darts. I think some experimentation is necessary...

My Stefans are long (about the same size as stock darts) and they still don't go as far as mod darts.

Hey guys, this is my first post, but anyway... if you were to take the normal sticky darts, with the sleaves, you can cut off the sleave and it fits fine. the main problem is that when you push the bolt forward the dart gets stuck inbetween the 2 barrels. you would have to fix this be deacresing bullet size, or expand the sencond, barrel, but that would let out to much air.

I also have a firefly, and whne I modded it I took the air resterictors out, and set them aside.
I then took some darts and cut the head off, and replaces them with the sir restrictors.
they are okay, they don't have good range, but they do work.

Just do a barrel replacement like the one talked about in Carrtoons thread, I took a look at that then went and did a replacement and it was much easier then I had expected.

I'm just gonna go ahead and bump this up with a question. If I understand you correctly, doing the barrel replacement will allow stefans to work? Or is additional modification to the darts needed.

Aside from glueing your barrel inserts in place you just have to remove the post from inside the bolt.

The little critters of nature, they don't know that they're ugly. That's very funny, a fly marrying a bumble bee. I told you I'd shoot, but you didn't believe me. Why didn't you believe me?

What barrel material are most people using? And how do I get the peg out? Can I knock it out from the back? Or do I need to keep the plastic strip the peg is sitting on intact

I do beleve people are using PTEG and Brass. Needle Nose pliars are being used to take out the peg.

I have a rather intersting problem here. I have some stefans that are long enough to shoot--but they seem to be too thin. The weird part is that if I stack 2 of my stefans up together on the clip, it will misfire. However if I got stefan--stock--stefan, then it works like a charm. Any remedy other than making new darts? (School work doesn't leave much time for anything elses)

Good job on not making a new thread. I am guessing it is one of two problems. First off it might be that your stefans are short and turn over in the clip and it jams. Second off it might be that you are using the wrong size of foam for your darts.
