I'm a big fan of Enter the Haggis, which is a celtic rock band, but also has influence through latin, blues and funk.

Southern rock/soul. Think Blues Brothers music here.

CCR, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Almand Brothers, Jerry Lee Lewis, The B-52's (They've got a lot of southern roots), Ray Charles, James Brown, Wilson Pickett, Stevie Wonder, etc. Those are all the ones that come to mind at first.

Sincereley,

Did you know that "m" can sometimes look like "rn" when read quickly?

Topics like this have turned out badly in the past. If things get out of control, I'm just going to whip out suspensions with little or no warning. Your best way to avoid this is to not be critical of other's musical tastes.

Pat, there is no reason why you need to keep ending your posts like that.

To stay on topic, I listen to a lot of rock. The artisits vary a lot, so I'll spare you a long list.

I listen to mostly rock. I have a fair few bands I could list but I'll just cut to my favourites being Bon Jovi and Oasis.

I listen to rock categories almost exclusively. Classic and Alternative for the most part, although I like just about any well-known rock band, past or present.

Putting my iPod on shuffle is an exercise in musical whiplash...which I like. You're quite likely to go from Kraftwerk to Glenn Miller to Skinny Puppy to Sting to Sugar to Wolfstone to...you get the idea. If you had to pin me down to a particular genre, though, it'd probably be 70s Prog Rock (Yes, Jethro Tull, Queen, Styx), but I certainly don't listen to just one genre...it's all about variety.

Paloose: Enter the Haggis is playing IrishFest this year...I'll check 'em out. Wolfstone and Slainte Mhath are my two favorite celtic rock bands.

Death metal is how I roll, mostly. Children of Bodom, Lamb of God and In Flames to name a few. Death metal is the most abudant style in my playlist, but I also listen to lighter metal like Megadeth or Motorhead. I also listen to a lot of older stuff like Queen and Zeppelin.

I like Oasis, Green Day (before American Idiot), Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the disco, and many others.

P.S.

If you had to pin me down to a particular genre, though, it'd probably be 70s Prog Rock (Yes, Jethro Tull, Queen, Styx), but I certainly don't listen to just one genre...it's all about variety.

Bolt, ye are truly a god among men. Ye have earned yeself a place on Enigma's list of heroes, right below Sean Connery and directly above Papa Smurf...a highly honorable slot indeed.

Although I liked the pre-summer version better than the new, updated version.

Deep breaths... Deep breaths... ok, I am amazed. Not a single one of you people even mentioned the greatest band of all time, the ones who breathed life into the style of rock and roll, The Beatles! Common people if I am the only one who like the beatles here than man in my oppinion you guys have no taste in music. How can you not like them? Almost all of their songs are amazingly well written and preformed. They basicly started rock and roll! One could argue that it was elvis but he probably didnt write his own music and really had almost no skill. All he did was swing his hips around in a suggestive manner but the beatles were truly talented musicians. There would be no Metalica or motorhead or any other of you insanely cool death metal, blood-spitting, drug addicts without them. So common guys, maybe they are a little old and maybe there music is dated but you gotta at least mention them in this topic if you chose rock or metal on that poll. (you probably figured this out by now, but I chose rock)

Hey sponge head, go read Shindig's post.

The point of threads like this is to blather about things nobody else gives a shit about, just to see yourself type.

Back on topic,

I voted Metal,

My tastes for metal would run the gamut of the genre, but I mostly stick to the old stuff

Bands like Iron Maiden, Rush, Judas Priest, Ozzy (with Randy Rhoads of course!), Dio, Halloween and ocassionally I will blow the dust off of my Quiet Riot LP and play it. B)

But in truth, its hard to find something that I don't enjoy listening to, its just that I mostly listen to metal above everything else.

Mostly for me it's about the jazz. Not blues, but more of the big band stuff. But I listen to almost everything. From Iron Maiden to Lamb of God to NickelCREEK (not Nickelback) to Leahy to Green Day to Tyrone Wells And Jack Johnson. Just no rap for me, but that's pretty much it.

You've gotta love Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, but lately I've switched to more ambient bands like Icelandic group Sigur Ros and Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
