My apologies for the second thread, but I thought this deserved its own. My first one was just discussion and photos on developmental stages and this is me actually putting it into play.

And so I give you...

I just realized I misplaced the handle in that it's over the clip instead of the forearm grip and I don't feel like refinishing everything tonight since I'm leaving for Hawaii tomorrow.

Yeah, he's right though. That gun is eerily similar to the real thing. I'm not saying ruin the look by painting the barrel tip orange, but you should be careful about where you use it.

EDIT: Elf, chill out. I doubt Dark Shrimp read his other thread and neither did I.

Oh man I made a huge ASS of myself for commenting on the fact that poeple for some reason feel the need to make nerf blasters look like real guns.

Mr. Shrimp the point of nerf haven isnt to go and put down everyones ideas and call them shit just because you dont like them (obviously admins are excluded from this) the point is to post your ideas and maybe brag about them alittle and then other people can come along and give 'helpful' 'suggestions' or positive feedback. Those two words alone gave me many good laughs. Probably because I am really tired.
The gun looks cool. It kind of looks like something Bolsniper would make when he was 14 or so. If he was even into nerf then.

Wow! I didn't think you'd take my advice at all! Thats an excellent job!

The only thing I'd have to say is that the bolt looks a little sloppy with all that tape on it. That and you might want to smooth the carrying handle with something so it doesn't look like PVC. I['d suggest Bondo: it's an automotive repair putty that's moldable wet and sandable once dry. Maybe slop some on there and sand it down a bit so it looks more continuous.


But other than those two very minor details, you did an excellent job! I'm glad you decided to do the work. It looks a lot better, and a lot more professional. You did a very clean job on this.

And Mr. Shrimp (Tee hee... he's right, it is silly), Arcanum just wanted to make this RFR look more like a BAR. He thought that the stock gun looked fairly similar, and he was asking for advice how to make it look more realistic. None of us are endorsing the use of real-looking Nerf guns wether it be on public or private property. I'm not saying that you were flaming him, but we could have done without the snide remarks. No offense meant.


But Arcanum: do did a very, very good job on this gun. I'd love to maybe see it in person someday. Have fun in Hawaii! Ha ha. Yeah, maybe you'll run in to Piney, but how would you recognize him even if you did? Have fun, man.

This has been said before, but He's not planning on using it. It's purley decorative. He made it for fun, and to show it off. He's not going to go strolling around the street with it. And if he does, he'll do WAY more than just an orange tip.

So, don't worry. Arcanum isn't going to get killed because of this anytime soon.

C'mon, be nice, Darkshrimp.

That RFR, while the novelty is nice, is kind of ghetto when it comes to absolute accurate replication of the B.A.R.

For one thing, it's really small compared to a real one. And weighs probably 15 pounds less.

For another, the taped up bolt, bipod, and carry handle are out of proportion, though it does resemble the BAR.

But you know what? I actually like it. Despite the fact that I normally can't stand when Nerfers get all carried away with mil-sim, I guess the fact that it looks like it was slapped together, for this particular instance, makes it that much more cool.

But paint something orange on that thing. Cops nowadays, they just might shoot at anything or anyone carrying a toy gun that looks even REMOTELY like some kind of "assault rifle".

Good job, Arcanum. Maybe we will run into each other here in Hawaii. Probably not, unless your parents want to see the lackluster island of Molokai (we have nothing, but lots of it!)

If you don't want an orange tip that much, but it would be good when you are outside, you could put a pvc adapter with a threaded endcap painted orange so you can take it off when you don't want it.
