I am doing a modification just like Angel's BBB on my Big Bad Bow. I am almost done and everything looks fine. I glued my 9/16 brass onto the BBB and I decided to test if it worked. I cocked the gun and I put a dart in the barrel through the front and I let it slide down. I fired, but the dart didn't even go out! I looked inside and the dart was half in the barrel and half of it was sitting on the air restrictor. Is my dart not going out because of that? I also examined the darts and found it wasn't even close to being a tight fit. The dart is also a bit out of shape and not perfectly circular. Are my darts bad?

I'm no expert at BBBs, but I do know the basics of modding.

Here are some Qs for you...

When you cock your BBB, and you dart falls into the breach (or through? what is the proper term?), are you closing the breach to make sure air isn't escaping?

or...

When you say "half of it was sitting on the air restrictor", what do you mean by that? Did you remove the air restrictors from the gun?

or...

When you say "it wasn't even close to being a tight fit", what dart material are you using? What size are your darts (diameter-wise)? Also, how non-circular are you darts? Is a lot of air passing around them?

With answers come solutions...

1) The breach is fine and no air escapes.
2)The brass barrel is too big in diameter for my darts, so it falls out of it. The only reason why the dart doesn't
go all the way into the gun is because the air restrictor stops it. I just solved this problem, but it didn't help a
lot.
3) From what I know the darts are the problem. The diameter is those of stock darts and they became crooked with use.

Ok, thanks for the answers. I have come to a conclusion, since your barrel is so loose, air just goes around your dart instead of behind it thus propelling the dart.

Usually crooked dart don't really affect a gun (save accuracy), but if you leave your darts in a tight barrel for a day, they should become straight.

That's all I can say with my current knowledge of modding.

Murakumo32's diagnosis was correct. Your darts don't fit in your barrel tightly enough, so the air just passes around them.

So...You use converted stock darts? That is to say, you took the collar off a stock dart, put in a weight, and glued it? Well then, there's your problem. Stock micros fit well in 17/32", or 1/2" brass. Converted stock darts are a smaller diameter than most people use. Therefore, you won't find many mods in which they use the right size materials for converted darts.

Murakumo32's solution of leaving the dart in the barrel for a while won't work very well. If your darts were too big to fit, I'd say leave them in there for a while. But, your darts are too small. That means that you have to change the barrel size.

So, leave that 9/16" brass on there. Take a piece of 17/32" brass that is about 2/3 the length of the 9/16" piece, and put it in. It should fit snugly in the 9/16". Then, take a piece about 1_1/2" long of 1/2" brass, and nest that all the way down into the 9/16" and 17/32".

Since you said this is breech loaded, cut any holes in the 17/32, or 1/2 that you need to in order to keep the breech clear.

Hope that helped.

Thanks for the help. I was thinking of just making micro Stefans. It should be a tighter fit than the other darts. Is 1/2 an inch in diameter a good size?

I tried using asshole darts but it didnt work either. Stefans are the way to go.
The link to the picture is a picture of 17/32" brass cut into a half pipe this makes the stefans even more snug when the stefans fall into the breech. It made a huge difference. I think it was close to a 20 foot difference.
Also I second the motion that your darts are too loose. If you just drop a dart in the front of the barrel and they can slide down, than the dart is way too loose. If your dart is crooked it should still fire but wont be very accurate.

I am glad to see people following in my footsteps. If you need any help pm me.

But I’m just not the angel you knew.
