Here's the story.

I started collecting Nerf guns less than 2 years ago. In that short time, I've gotten my hands on alot of guns, and I seriously mean alot, though nowhere close to Orange's collection. The biggest problem I've had is keeping track of what I already own and what I still need. It gets aggravating after a while to write down every single gun I own, including color and model variations, only to find out that I'm missing something again.

So here is what I am hoping for from the NH community. I would like some help in compiling a COMPLETE checklist. When I say complete, I mean every incarnation of a gun, all color and pattern variations, all guns by known nerf-like manufacturers (Buzz Bee and Lanard, not the cheap knockoffs you could buy for $1), toyline and movie tie-in products, promotional guns (restaurant chain licensed products). The works!!!

I have received in the past some help in the form of websites, but they don't complete the picture, only start it. These are the links I have been sent so far.

NerfCenter, A great resource, but outdated

Another expansive list, but old. Lots of newer guns not listed.

What I was thinking of doing is compiling pictures of every gun in my collection and placing them in PhotoBucket. This will give me a starting point to show everyone what I own and to get an idea of what is missing. It will also be the template for the final form of the checklist, where with every description, there will be a picture to show a collector what exactly they are looking for. I will also post here what I have compiled to date. I have been working on this for quite some time, but it is a daunting task and now I am asking for help. I will start my list later today when I wake up and will edit it as I get more input from all of you. I also ask that anyone who has a picture of a gun not in my PhotoBucket account send it to me as well so I can update the information thoroughly.

Here's to hoping that The Infinite Shindig, cxwq, ompa, and the rest of the moderators won't be pissed at me for the hopefully massive list that this topic will cause. I am doing this for the benefit of not only myself, but of every modder and collector, n00b and veteran, who could use this as a vital tool.

I think also that the serious amount of sleep deprivation that I have been a victim of is taking it's toll on me and I 'm beginning to go slightly crazy.

EDIT: Here's a list of what I have photos of in my PhotoBucket account, which oddly enough is what I own as well. Any new additions will be dated and marked with an asterisk. I will also give credit to who submitted the picture and whether they are from NH or NHQ.

Sorry to go a bit off topic, but does anyone remember that dude who posted those pics he had of basically an entire room full of guns a few years back? Literally, cupboards and drawers full of guns, guns hanging from the ceiling, and more. I'm pretty sure he said that him and his family essentially collected them. I think this was posted on Nerf Online, though it could have been sent round on the NerfList...my memory is a little hazey :) Just reading this topic I had a sudden image of seeing like 6 Arrowstorms hanging from a rack next to 5 or 6 x-bows. It was quite a sight!

Anyway, with regards to the topic, sounds like an excellent idea mate. Might I suggest that someone perhaps hosts a wiki (if you're stuck, I might have some space on one of my hosting accounts) so that everyone can easily contribute to the list. I'd be happy to lend a hand, though I haven't been involved with the community or Nerf itself for a numbers of years so my knowledge would mainly be limited to the older stuff :)

Well, there is a Nerf page on Wikipedia right now. And, Kirbysayshi (I think thats his name. Sorry if i got it wrong) is compiling a list of mods for guns in the modification forums on this site. He has a LONG way to go if he wants every mod for every gun, but he has a lot of the writeups for new guns, and he's constantly adding new ones.

But, yeah, it would be cool to have a list of every gun ever made with, hopefully, a picture to go with it.

The problem with including non-Nerf weaponry is where do you draw the line? I mean, would modded Super Soakers be considered Nerf guns? I have a spring-powered squirt gun by Buzzbee that I've coupler modded; it's now a foam-shotting gun, and it's made by a company that makes foam-shooting guns, but it was not originally a foam shooting gun. See what I mean?

I'd love to help, but I'm sleep deprived enough already; I don't need any new projects to keep up for 54 hours straight again.

Sincereley,
Pat

The point is that anyone could edit it, anyone could put things. To be nerf like, it's gotta (stock) shoot foam, thats really it.

Thanks OMC, I'd appreciate it. As for everyone else, I know that this is a difficult task, but to make it easier, I'll say this.

Though some modded guns are sweet as hell, they will not be a part of this endeavor. To a collector like myself, a modified gun is simply a retooling of the original gun to suit the owner's needs, whether it be for aesthetics or versatility. That would be like a music collector also including amateur mash-ups in his collection.

As I've stated this in the past, I have nothing against modified guns or the modders at all. In fact, I'm impressed with the ways you can alter a simple toy and turn it into a masterpiece of physics and paint. It's just not the path for me. My entire collection has NO modified guns in it. You can even ask the people I've bought Nerf from on NH. I always ask first if it has been modified. If they say anything other than no, I am no longer interested.

Yeah, Orange posted a huge list of guns and ItallionStallion helped by adding a few in he missed. I put this list on the Nerf Wikipedia page but someone deleted it...

http://nerfhaven.com...4201&hl=list of

It doesn't have Lanard guns or any of the Buzz Bee or Supertech guns but if you can go to the Buzz Bee website they have a whole list of those, I don't know about Lanard.

I think this is a really great idea. Making a giant Nerf list has been something thats been talked about since I started 5 years ago. I really like badger's idea of adding pictures or every nerf gun ever made is a great idea. Its going to take alot of time to track down some of the rarer guns/color types. I personally would be interested in helping in any way I can.

Infact, if you want you can borrow my gun boxed pictures.

Thanks Stallion and nerfer34, the help would be appreciated. Right now, I am uploading my pictures to PhotoBucket of everything I own. This will take a while, but when it is done, I will put the link to my PhotoBucket account for all to see. I will also post up a list of what I have on this blog as a simpler reference to show people the gaps in my collection. There are more guns that I own, technically. They just haven't arrived yet from trades and purchases.

I've actually been working on a site for my collection for quite some time now, but I keep getting distracted by other thing and haven't had a chance to finish it. Here's what I have so far - http://www.freewebs....range/index.htm - but like I said, it's still a major work in progress. I took all the pictures with my old digital camera so they aren't all that great and now that I have a better one I want to retake all of them at some point. I'd also like to get the rest of my pics uploaded as well as write reviews for all the guns, but like I said, I can't seem to find the time...

The other thing is I'm really only interested in official Nerf guns, so I don't have any info on Lanard or other non Nerf guns, beyond Vortex, Larami and Mattel stuff of course. But I do have pics of nearly all my guns up on that site, as well as a complete list of all the official Nerf guns. I didn't add in the different color variations and whatnot since I didn't think anyone else besides me would care about them, but now that I know others are interested I'll try to get that info added in at some point.

Anyway, I hope that helps, the only thing I ask is that if you want to use any of the info or pictures on my site for your own use that you ask me first as I did put a lot of work into this.

Thanks for the added help Orange. I was hoping you would chime in sometime soon. This list that I am compiling is not just for me, nor will it contain only what I own. Any help and info you have would be highly appreciated.

As for the nerf-like guns, I lump Larami and Oddz-On guns into Nerf since Larami makes all of Hasbro's Nerf line and they bought out Oddz-On. I should be done soon with the PhotoBucket compilation, so everyone can take a look and help me to start filling in the gaps. Please note, I'm not the greatest at using PhotoBucket, so I may have made it hard to navigate. Someone please let me know.

I really do think that my mind has begun a downward spiral into the abyss. WEEEEE!!!

Larami doesn't make Nerf. Hasbro does.

Orange, I don't know if you want a picture of a Vortex Tornado or not, since it is a page for YOUR arsenal alone, but if you want one just as a filler until you get a Tornado I could get you one very easily.

Actually, at one point in time, they did. In fact, there have been a couple companies responsible for making Nerf guns. Hasbro only owns the rights to the name Nerf because they bought out all of the companies that made Nerf.

Parker Brothers was the creator of anything related to Nerf, since they made the first Nerf ball, but it was made by them when they were a subsidiary of General Mills. Parker Brothers is also the manufacturer of the Blast-A-Ball game and the Blast-A-Matic. In the 80's, General Mills sold Parker Brothers to Kenner, which would explain how they made Nerf, as written below. Kenner was also a part of General mills at this point. In 1987, all of this was bought by Tonka, which was then bought in 1991 by Hasbro.

Kenner was next before they were acquired by Hasbro and subsequentially liquidated by Hasbro Inc. The Crossbow and the Expand-A-Blast were toys made by Kenner in 1995 and 1998, respectively, after Hasbro acquired them. It was in the middle of 1991 when Hasbro bought Tonka, which owned Kenner at this point. Hasbro closed the Cincinnati offices of Kenner in 2000, and Kenner's product lines were merged into Hasbro's.

OddzOn was also a manufacturer of Nerf guns for Hasbro since they were a subsidiary of Hasbro. They created the Motorized Ballzooka, PowerClip, and the WildFire. They are also responsible for the beginnings of the Secret Strike. The copyright information on the tiger-striped Secret Strike blaster says OddzOn. OddzOn offices were closed down around 2000-2001 and their technological assets were absorbed into Hasbro.

Larami, the producers of the Super Soaker toyline, is also a subsidiary of Hasbro. Hasbro acquired them and began to use their Super Soaker technology in their guns. The Switch Shots series is a great example of this. In fact, Larami is responsible for the Rapid Fire 20, most of the SuperMAXX series, including the SM3000 Yellow Tank, and the Mono Blast, to name a few. They are still a subsidiary of Hasbro, lending their technologies to the production of Nerf guns today, while maintaining a stranglehold on the watergun market.

I'm not trying to be a dick here, I just hate it when people tell me I'm wrong about something when I know I am right. Now I know that part of my comment before may have been inaccurate, but to just say that I am wrong is also inaccurate. I've done all this research to prove my point. Wikipedia and NerfCenter were the sources of this entry as well as my own box collection.

Now I need a fuckin' cigarette. I've been entering in my pictures all day. Thankfully, the first part of this nightmare is over.

EDIT: I'm going to edit the first post of this topic now to include a list of everything I own, as promised, and a link to my PhotoBucket account so you can all see what I have so far.

I have nothing more productive to say than "Great googly moogly, I had one of those!" I had completely forgotten about it.

That probably counts as the first Nerf "gun"....I got mine as a Christmas present in something like '76 or '77.

The first one is simply called 'Nerf Rockets with Air Launcher,' and Carbon is correct, it was made in 1976 by Parker Brothers. The second gun is a SuperMaxx Airzooka by Hasbro.

NerfMonkey: No problem.

z80: I'm not sure about that either. I looked all over the gun, but found no copyright information. In fact, the only company the box lists is Hasbro. The gun is listed as part of the Airjet Power series, which the PC was a part of as well, so I am at a loss.

Orange: Thank you for the info update.

Carbon: I own 3 of them. Two have tiny holes in the bladders and one rocket is useless. I don't even try to use them at all. They just make for interesting desk decorations, at least the two with holes n them. The other one is stored away.

Has anyone tried out the link to my PhotoBucket yet? I wanted to know if it worked.

Never could get my hands on one. My main criteria for buying a gun for my collection is:

1) Not modified in any way.

2) Has all of the origianl parts. Ammo is not a part of this unless the ammo is unique to the gun.

3) The gun needs to be functional.

I just got myself a Sawtooth a couple of months ago. I would have had one sooner, but every other one I saw was either missing the shoulder stock, the scope/barrel, the clips, or any combination of the above. Being a collector sucks sometimes.

By the way, Orange, I am officially asking you if I may use your pictures for this list.
