How much psi. would it/ does it take to get a dart out a barrel and propel it around... 100'? And would an air tank that's a bit smaller then a foot and 1" PVC acually have enough air to do this? I mean I look at the titan and the airtech 2k and that has even smaller air tanks... Oh ya the barrel is about... 2' ish.

Thanx :P

A two foot barrel and one foot airtank is rather excessive. You would probably hit more than 100' with half of both of those measures. Of course, I suppose that depends on what PSI you'll be operating at. I doubt that the pressures would be anything too dangerous unless this thing has been poorly assembled. I recommend experimentation.

This depends on so many factors that I can't even begin to tell you. Get GGDT:

Ya.... That site didn't help at all... I could barely even open some of it. So, really what I'm asking I guess is, is that would 40-ish psi. shoot a dart far at all? (this being ofcoures in a 2 foot barrel).

I know how long a 2' barrel and a 1'-ish air tank would add up to but I don't really care... It's a big rifle.

I think I remember a previous discussion about this and Nerf guns (At2k) using a pressure of about 15-20psi. So if you want to shoot twice as far as an At2k, use 40psi.

Pics when it's done. : o)

The SITE doesn't do anything. DOWNLOAD the program, input your gun parameters, and get a much better answer than we can give you.

Okay, with a two foot barrel, you are gonna launch that little stefan all the way to Moscow. The Russians don't like stuff being shot at them. Ok, I'm just kidding, but you can go as high as 100 psi with a barrel like that, it is really unnecessary, as there is WAY too much friction. Boltsniper used a 12" barrel on ths SCAR-N, and look at how far it shoots. Same with the NTS, which has a 4" barrel. If you really want this thing to look extremely long, bore out the barrel, so most of it is for show, like what Boltsniper did with the FAR. Otherwise, unless you use higher pressures, this gun will be unweildly. Might I add, with the more pressure you add, the more likely the dart wil become unstable, so experiment alot to find the optimum pressure.
Taz22, don't worry about punctuation and stuff, it's all cool, some people are just stupid. Just ignore those who don't cut ya slack, they need to chill a bit, and if they tried so write in your language (sorry, I don't know what you speak in the Netherlands) they would definitely screw up. Glad to have ya here bud.

Prometheus, no barrel is too long if there's a large enough chamber to support it. A 100' barrel would shoot fine, even at 40 psi, it would just require a large chamber.

Again, before you start pulling airgun principles out of your ass, get GGDT and see what works.

True, davidbowie, and most of us know that the barrel length is prportional to the chamber size, but if you are using pressurized air, in a resevoir, why not use a higher pressure, and both a longer barrel and smaller chamber?
The main drawback of most homemades is with springs, we cannot obtain higher psi's. And I agree that with a large enough chamber, a 100' barrel can be used, but unless you absolutely, really want to use a 2' barrel, you can still have good results with a shorter barrel.
