[font=Tahoma]So here it is my first post on nerhaven after I've been ghosting through this place the last month gathering 411 on mod'ing Nerf Mavericks. I have completed my first mod on a freind's Maverick sidearm using the expanding sticky foam theory and it has worked out rather well, in fact the paint job I put on it isn't half bad either. My own personal Maverick sidearm will be done in the next 3 days after a little range testing putting the mod'ed against the stock. I digress though. I wondering if anyone has any suggestions on mod'ing an Airzone Bazooka. I've done a little preliminary testing with out taking it apart to test its efficacy in a long range role and seeing as how it's lobbing almost baseball mass missle putting in a barrel to fire darts looks like it will turn out well. I wonder though if I should go for megadarts or microdarts and if there is anything I should do in particular to turn it into a long range weapon, or if I should even use the Airzone Bazooka in such a role.

Welcome to NH!

First, as I'm sure you've noticed, there is a censor in place for the noun you're trying to use. In short, don't bother saying there is losing in nerf, the combination of homemade foam darts and win mean very little accuracy at long ranges on anything more than a perfectly wind-less day.

Anyways, you should do what you would do for most pump guns; plug the over-pressure release valve if you need more power, and do a barrel replacement.

The mega/micro decision is up to you. It seems that West Coast uses micros, and East is a mix.

I have edited such nouns out of my post and I appreciate the heads up so I won't make the same mistake again. Thank you for the input.

After going to a couple wars outside NJ, it seems more appropriate to say NJ uses Megas/Zeroes and the rest of the world uses micros.

Kuhlscrank and I have been to more wars outside of our home region out of any of the guys I know. What he said is exactly true. NJ is strictly the only place left using Megas and Zeros, and it's really only because I make most of them for everyone.

Depending on how Armageddon goes for us this year, we may lead the Micro revolution on the home turf when we get back. I have a feeling also that my laziness will dominate, and I really won't want to make zeros as much anymore.

So I say go with micros. ....Never thought I would hear myself say that.

OMG!!

What is with this thing with the word S N I P E R? It becomes the word, loser, why? When people say the word, they simply mean long range weapons. When they say eat shit, they basically mean they hit someone from far away. I'll just refer to those people as Sharpshooters now, but come on, you know exactly what people mean when they say loser. Please remove that censor crap. It's pointless. In my opinion, there IS losing in nerf, but its not what it really means. In nerf, it should be defined as long range combat as there is close quarters combat and the combat in the middle.

After experimenting with megas yesterday, I have to say that I actually prefer megas to micros. However, if you're looking for using the Airzone Bazooka as a 'long range weapon', I'd say go for micros. You'll get more range out of it if you use micros, but if you're going for an intimidation factor, go for megas.

If by 'long range' you mean you want to hit people far away, use micros, just for the range. However, you wont be very accurate at those ranges, so it really won't be a 'long range' gun in the sense that you can peg people at 100'.

If by 'long range' you mean accurate out to it's effective range, use megas. They're less affected by wind than micros, so they're a bit more likley to 'stay' accurate out further.

However, if by 'long range' you mean you want to keep people a long range away, use megas. They hurt more, so people will be less likley to rush you for fear of pain. While this won't work on some hardcore Nerfers, your average everyday person would try to avoid being shot by a mega out of an Airzone Bazooka at close ranges.

It gave the site a sort of 'homy' feeling.

Did you know that "m" can sometimes look like "rn" when read quickly?

I'd have to say that the range increase given to the given blaster when using micros versus megas isn't worth it compared to the improved accuracy of megas. They go where you point them, period. OMC taught me this, and I've just got to get my act together and make some good megas. Plus, with couplered guns you can use either type of ammo. Who wouldn't want to do that?

I'd say to go and make both kinds of ammo, and try them out. Then use what works better for you. If you find a nice micro/mega mod, and want to do the mod but use the other ammo type all you need is a different barrel material and space in the case (hehe, rhymes) to fit the barrel. Simple.

On the real topic, now. 90% of the time, the mod is pretty simple for any gun. Find where the air is coming from, make sure there are no obstructions, put on a suitable barrel size for your darts and fudge the length of the barrel until you get it right. You shouldn't have too much of a problem doing that, you seem like a pretty sharp guy.

Hope that helped.

I'm suddenly reminded of the old adage, "The benevolency of the dictatorship is in the eyes of the beholder."

In other words, tough shit. There is no reason why I'd override cx on this issue.

The very subject, "long range role" opens up all kinds of cans of worms.

First off, there very rarely is any REAL nerfing outside of, say, 150 feet, tops. Ever look at 150 feet lately? It 'aint much at all. If it's outdoor warfare, throw in wind and terrain, and you've got yourself a whole bunch of relatively short ranges to work with.

I'm working on a SuperMaxx 1500 as a new primary, and am setting it up to shoot in the 90-100 foot range, which it usually is capable of with the proper barrel length. But I plan on using it at my usual ranges (20-30 feet), but will have the ability to lob a dart at someone every now and then from afar, if the opportunity arises.

Really now. Think about it. Why are you going to only have a single role for a Nerf blaster, aside from the "look" of a so-called "asshole rifle" or other such novelty. Most of the roleplaying stuff exists in the gray matter between your ears as you play out your army/soldier/SWAT games.

The majority of us just NERF.

Oh, and by the way, I basically use whatever is more plentiful at the time; thusly I have quantities of both mega and micro stefans, and some slightly bigger darts, as Pat said, for intimidation effect (against cardboard boxes, shot from my modded SM 5000). Basically, my case in point in reference to my above statement.

What Shinny said.

If you're unhappy, the door is right there.

Exactly. I can get more satisfaction from a diving pistol hit than a well-placed shot 80' away from behind a bush. Shorter ranged attacks make you work for it, and that's what makes Nerf fun for me.
