Well ahs anyone heard anything about Halo 3? I get the Xbox magazine( No I don't pay for it, it came free with my x box) it says
-you can dual wield swords
-DRIVE THE PELICAN! drop off teamates and vehicles
-new vehicles like motorcycles

It is also only for Xbox 360. What a bummer.

OMG!!! you guys halo 3 is totally going to own all of your asses cause it's totally 1337 even though it won't come out for months or possibly years. And there's no way starting a topic this early will only lead to a string of identical failed threads strung out from now until it comes out. I am SO glad that someone felt the need to start this topic because they read an article in a magazine and felt the need to post it on the board. And I can totally see the need to go back on your topic and justify your subscription to a magazine, mad props man.

Seriously, what made you think that starting a topic about the game this early was a good idea, although based on the grammar you uphold in this forum, ideas aren't your strong suit.

Halo 3 is coming out in early to mid 2007. I wanted to tell people what new things are in halo 3 and see if they are going to get a 360 just for that game.

Dual sowrds is gonna suck big Spartan balls.
It owns as it is, why make you be able to use two of 'em?
That's as unfair as making the rocket launcher be able to home in on people as well as vehicles...

How is dual swords unfair? Its not like you spawn with them. Yu can do combos like block the plasma pistol and melee and lunge I believe. It also sia dyou can do "finishing moves". Basically microsoft is going all out on their last Halo game. It's gonna be awesome!

The Halo franchise BLOWS in comparison to any pc shooter franchise. Halo is the same generic crap. Ooo, lookie, more stuff to duel wield, that's why it'll be awesome! No, halo is pitiful. Xbox is pitiful. Pc is the superior machine by far. So to sum it all up, I would title this thread "Halo 3: Nobody gives a shit".

Ouch, harsh words from the PC gamer. My mouse and my rig suck ass, so I'm afraid I prefer Xbox. As for the Halo franchise, the strength in every game so far has been the multiplayer more than the campaign. Halo 2 on Xbox Live is arguably as great as, if not greater than, PC FPS gaming via the Internet or LAN. I'm looking forward to Halo 3 because the games' storyline is considerably better than that of most console FPSs, and I'm anxious to see what happens to the MC and Earth. I already know what'll happen to the Covenant: they're going to get fucking owned. Oh, and dual-wielding Energy Swords is indeed quite homosexual. One seems to be enough for n00bs to cry, "Unfair!"

OK thats your opnion but you don't need to be a bitch about it. I think your just mad that you don't own an xbox, so your stuck with your laggy computer. PC games freeze, lag, sometimes maybe turn off, I don't know. I reallly don't like the controls on the PC either...

dual- weilding 2 things of the same kind

duel quick/short skirmish involving usually 2 people

Yes, I have a laggy computer. Check this out:

Amd 64 3200+ 2 ghz
gforce 3600 gt 256 mb
1 gig dual channel memory
All that for under 600$. Around the same price of an xbox 360, give or take a hundred.
I'm done with this thread, however, everyone's going to be drooling over this silly, silly game. The pc is the ultimate console, sorry.

Ehh, I never really cared for Halo, Halo 2 (Wow, you can dual wield! And drive the warthog? This really is the best game ever!), or the upcoming Halo 3.

The only reason this series is popular in the first place is because of its Rabid Fanboyism and rampant advertising.

I sure as hell am not going to spend 600 dollars, for a console (or for one game for that matter) when I know that the PS3 is going to be the superior console (but I think I will pick up an Nintendo Wii anyway, just because it is the most affordable to the masses who have things like “Jobs”.)

It’s sad when the only thing behind a game is eye candy, and people forget what makes a game a good game…I mean, come on, a prime example is the Atari 2600, god awful graphics, but it had the game play, it had the immersion.

If you walk up to anybody and mention such favorites as Pac-man, Asteroids, Space Invaders, Pong, they know exactly what you are talking about, because the game designers didn’t have the graphical capabilities, and had to focus on ACTUALLY playing the game, and maybe throwing in a bit of a story.

Its not just the graphics or the 5.1 Doubly surround sound, its about the game itself, this is why these low graphic ender games remain such hits and continue to be until Gaming is gone for good, and why Halo will be forgotten.

P.S. Half-Life is a way better shooter, in fact, it’s a thinking man’s shooter, and crowbars will always kick your stupid plasma swords ass.

Speaking of fanboyism, when did you get into beta testing the PS3?

Oh wait, thats right, you didn't. So there's no way that you will KNOW that the PS3 is superior. It's opinion, but to state that something is clearly better than another, especially when it has not been released to the general public, is idiodic.

In YOUR mind it may be superior, but not to everyones.

because the game designers didn’t have the graphical capabilities, and had to focus on ACTUALLY playing the game

Wrong. Technically, at the time, those games had state-of-the-art graphics. Not because they were actually great, but they were games in playable form.. 5 years ago, they didn't have the graphical capabilities as they do today, but at the time, they were state-of-the-art to everyone.

Nerfer34, I'm glad you're excited about Halo 3 and your X-Box 360, dual-wielded plasma swords does seem a bit rediculous and over-the-top though. Seriously, isn't 1 enough to get the job done normally, and even then, don't you get dodged and stuck in the ribs when you try to use on online? As for recording "montages", shouldn't any hardcore Halo-er already have a capture card? Shouldn't there be a way to use/modify/alter it to work with the 360, or couldn't you wait for someone to develope one for the 360 if you can't attatch your original?

Personally, I have no clue what the future of the console wars will be in the next generation of games. In my opinion, the Wii seems to have the interesting gameplay and controls, whereas the PS3 seems to rely on its graphical capabilities (and FF fanboys) more than well-developed gameplay. Not to say that the PS3 doesn't have it's gems, it's just that it seems to be over-playing it's graphics as a crutch rather than a compliment to gameplay. However, I'v never been a fan of Xbox too much, it's ok, but not marketed very well in my opinion and seems to rely too much on one game and it's sequel(s), but this might change with the launch of other games with decent gameplay (Call of Duty 2, Gears of War, etc.) and the more user-friendly online play.

PCs, in all of this mass of confusion seem to stand their ground as steady rocks, not too popular in main-stream media, but the prefered choice for the true geeks and thinking men as gaming systems. Half-life, Mist, and all the MMOs (more of a life-less man rather than thinking on that one) attest to this.

But, this is just the ranting of someone who's not too knowledgeable on these things (don't really know my hardware and I have very little technical knowledge), but it's just my opinion, and you can have your own, after all, isn't that what America/the internet is all about?

Hey, does anyone have a link to this Halo 3 info? Like a real link, not just "go check the magazine website?" I've been searching for the things stated above, but haven't found it yet... I'm not doubting, but I'd like to see it in print. Thanks

The Playstation line doesn't just have FF games. I myself have never owned or played a Final Fantasy game (except for Tactics, but that's a different type entirely), and I own the Playstation and PS2. I think the main reason that they have the graphics is to compete with the XBox 360, because that's what Macrohard is doing also (what has this come to?). Most games I've played so far for the Sony systems have had better gameplay than graphics, so I think that'll continue.

And anyone who buys a system just because they're obsessed with one not that great series needs a life.

I know that they take stuff off off the real game because I beta tested halo 2 and before they took everything off they had a motorcycle and you could shoot the cannon onthe banshee in multiplayer so i'm hoping that they don't do that again.

P.S. if you want proof I still have the beta disc.

I picked up a 360 for many reasons but one of the big ones was definitely Halo 3. I am really looking forward to it. They would really have to fuck it up for it to not be awesome.

To the PC advocate:
Considering the 360 has more power than any PC you can currently buy or build.....I`d say $300 is pretty damn good. I love me some mouse and keyboard style playing via Couterstrike and Quake but I also play a lot on my Xbox with Halo and others.

I'd like to be able to use the Jackel shield as a dual wield compatable weapon.

I also think it would be cool it insted of making the sword dual wield-able, amp it up by allowing you to throw it. It would do the normal lunge with the R button, but put the B button to use when holding a sword.

Press the B button and the Chief would throw it and it would spin horizontally. It would be a one-hit-kill but once it reached a certain distance, without hitting anything, it would fall to the floor allowing you or someone else to pick it back up. If it hits something (person, wall, etc.) it would fall to the floor.

So it would be like a last minute attempt to get a kill before you die or a substitute for failing your sword around aimlessly waiting for the crosshair to turn red to allow you to lunge at the person in front of you.

I also want a night level in multiplayer, or the function to change the time in any level.
I can see it now. Multi-flag CTF on Coagulation... At night! Badass!
But allow the flashlight to be used in MP and bring back the night vision in the asshole rifle for the night level(s).

Just my two centz. B)

Edit: Haha! Forgot about the filter for that certain noun.
