Free games! YAY! Ok, yeah, this means games that are downloadable. Like games that arent made by flash, but games that are, lets say, like Half-Life (example), but downloadable for free off a site (no, not like piracy). Anyone play any? Know of any awesome First Person Shooters? I'd post one, but cant find it.

Click on "Enemy Territory" at the top, and you have a free multiplayer FPS.
I just got it, and haven't played it much, but it seems to play much like DoD (Half-life mod).

I wish I could say Infantry. I used to be squad leader for a huge friggin clan on that game. Alas, it too turned to the dark side as Sony bought it from the private company, and put it into a seventh-ring-of-hell-beta test for two god damn years. That was awful, but then it went p2p and it was just left behind.

Now as far as free first person, you have counter strike, which is a half life mod. It's free but you need a version of half life which is not. I think you could probably go to half.com and get one semi-cheap.

The best site for free games is Underdogs. It's a site completely dedicated to older abandoned games, and in my opinion some of the best were never to be touched. Do a search in Google and you should find it. Look for a game called Crusader. There were two games, they both rock, no multiplayer.

Now if your into strategic first person such as myself I would suggest America's Army. Great fuckin' game, but a bit of a learning curve. This is my personal favorite at the time which isn't saying much.

If you want an awesome cheap game, get Jedi Knight, to date this is probably my favorite game, next to maybe dark forces, its predicessor. You can pick this one up for probably ten bucks in Lucasart's classic at best buy, or even better, EB.

If you have X-box, get halo cause it can be played online for free without X-box live, via gamespy arcade and game tunnel. This game is just awesome, it's worth buying the system for, hell thats what I did.

Ok, thats my two cents. You may want to look at Savage which is coming out soon or is already out, but that's going to cost you some money.

Hope I helped,

Talio.

Definitely check out Americas Army. Best use of government money in the entire Bush administration IMO.

I concur. If you want totally free kick-ass FPS games download Americas Army and Enemy Territory. Both kick ass, and both play VERY differently. AA is very realistic and tactical, Enemy Territory is pretty crazy class-based FPS fun.

If you have a copy of Half-Life (and if you don't, you have no right to call yourself a gamer), then download Day of Defeat (which is like the best mod EVER) and/or Counterstrike if you're a lame-ass. I've also heard very good things about Natural Selection, for HL. You can find a used copy of Half-Life for like $15 if you look hard enough.

Other than that, there are a ton of free multi and single player FPS demos. You can download a free Battlefield 1942 multiplayer demo that a lot of people are still playing online, same with Unreal Tournament 2003. Go to www.fileplanet.com and just search around for FPS demos and/or free games, theres a lot of good stuff there (including all the mods/games mentioned above).

Mind you, for some of these games you'll need a decent machine to run them acceptably, though others scale better to low end hardware.

You can take that DoD and you know what you can do with it?! You can play it. Dont be hatin' on us Cs'ers though. Natural Selection does kick major ass, as does Sven Coop. But if you have Half Life, you probably know about these.

Some of the lesser known HL mods are Box Wars (go download it and enjoy it for a good day, then forget about how magical it is), Richochet (so sweet) and of course, the forgotten TFC, which sucks now (I needed a third thing in my list...sorry guys)

Aw I agree Fortress Classic is awful now, but in it's hayday, it was awesome. It's still playable, but that one was second only to Infantry at the time.

With Valve's new Steam program, you don't need Half Life to play Counterstrike. Actually, the newest version of CS, 1.6, is only available through Steam.

I got Counter-Strike, and Half-Life. And recently downloaded "Action Half-Life". Totally kickass. Your a character like Neo (from The Matrix), and you pretty much play Half-Life with him. The guns look a whole lot better (and they have different guns in the game), and you can do the jump-and-slow-down-while-shooting-in-the-air move, like in Max Payne or Dead to Rights. Plus you can do Kung-Fu. Like Kick and punch and shit. Its pretty awesome. But I downloaded it at a CyberCafe near me cause my computer needs some new hardware. I just mainly like playing single player first person shooters sometimes, so I can control the outcome, er... somethin like that.

Yea I played Action HL a lot when it first came out. I was BIG into it's predecessor, the irreplacable Action Quake 2 way back when. I was actually in one of the top Action Quake 2 clans in the world for a year back in the mod's heyday. Good times.

Believe me dude, it was crazy fun! And there were only two people playing too!

I'm totally hooked on enemy territory right now though. It's so funny what you can get for free in life.
