Well I have a very nice maverick and really want this to work. I have spent over $20 and over 2 hours working on my mav. I was shooting it and then it just stopped cocking correctly. It wouldn't catch. So I opeened it up and found the steel rod(holds both ends of slider cock togeter) bent. The little yellow hole that holds each end of the steel rod are ruined. I have tried gluing them but it just won't hold. I am intereested in a maverick steel rod and slider if anyone has some spare parts. Also can anyone help?

This happened to my Crossfire. Probably because I added a new spring without reinforcing it. I have learned since then. You probably did the the same thing with your maverick, either that or it has broke after repetitive use. I don't know what you can do to fix this. I have one painted red. You can have it if you pay for shipping.

I, too, lost the steel pole of the slider, except it happened randomly during cocking. The metal piece flew into my lawn, never to be seen again. I've been toying with several ways to fix it, one of which is to use a section of coat hanger in its place. The only problem with that is the hangers lack of girth; it may be too skinny.

It'll be an experiment, but it just may work.

If I understand you correctly, you can pull the grey slider back but the action of doing so is too easy; you can pull it back but doing so doesn't cock the Maverick, right?

The way I fixed my problem with the Maverick not cocking is making sure the steel pin catches the hole of the orange cylinder (the one attached to the spring). You'll notice an orange protrusion with a hole. When reassembling the Maverick it's important that (1) the steel pin properly goes through that hole, and (2) when both halves of the Maverick's shell are reassembled that the pin is protruding through the narrow grooves on either side of the gun. Only when you've confirmed that should you replace the gray slider's halves, making sure that the steel pin now engages their proper fittings on the gray slider's halves.

So when you're pulling the gray slider back, you're in fact pulling the steel pin which in turn pulls the orange cylinder back, creating tension with the spring, and if pulled back far enough, it's locked into place -- and released when the trigger is pressed to disengage the lock.

If for any reason that little orange protrusion is broken, you'd have to somehow fabricate a replacement or replace the Maverick. That is why stronger springs are not always the answer because of the inherent material weakness of the plastic used. Now if the part were metal then that would be something else but finding a fabricator who works in metal could result in a part that costs more than the whole Maverick, unless you're good with welding and power tools yourself.

Hope I understood you right, and I hope this helped.

I don't know if this helps much, but for warx, my local hardware store has small (non hollow) brass rods. You might want to see if your local store has some too.

This happened to one of my Mavericks, and I fixed it with some JB Weld epoxy. You can find it at any hardware store and it's the stongest two-part epoxy I've ever used.

JB weld is about $5, while a new Maverick is $7. It would be easier to just buy a new one and take the slider from it.

Ok, well I am not quite sure where its broken but I think a solution could be to drill compleatly through the sides where the broken peg hole things are and then slide a longer rod through. I might be totally off in saying this because Im not sure where it is broken a picture would be great.

CSMaclaren, I don't mean to flame or anything, but I think that his problem is the steel rod bent, so it won't cock the plunger back far enough. He's done everything else.

I would suggest either a machine screw or some other kind of strong rod-ish thing. Just mark where the rod would be as far forward as possible, then drill a hole in both of the sliding pieces. Put your rod/screw/bar/etc. in one of the holes, put the extension spring around it so it returns before the guns shoots, then put the rest of the gun together and get the rod/screw/bar/etc. into the slider piece on the other side. If it's a screw, put a nut on the other end, otherwise take some glue and knock yourself out.

The little yellow hole that holds each end of the steel rod are ruined.

Or the problem could be that the plastic parts on the slider that hold the steel rod in place are broken.

So I opeened it up and found the steel rod(holds both ends of slider cock togeter) bent.

Or it could be all of the above.

Nerfer34, could you clarify the problem for us?

[EDIT] I still think you should just buy a new Mav for parts.

YA the steel rod is bent. The slider part of the mav is kind of broken too. Ryan I am very interested in your parts. What parts do you have? Also my parts were painted red too, so perfect!

This is where he broke it inside the slider. Sorry about the paint job. Not too great. You can paint over it though.

Um...no. Sure, you can use a screwdriver or some sort of fork to cock the blaster, but it's anything but practical. The Maverick has one thing going for it (it's Rate of Fire) and using a foreign metal object in place of the slider slows it down immensely to the point of rendering the gun useless.
