Here is my new reduced Nitefinder. I pretty much reduced as much as I could. I am debating whether or not to cover the whole. It works very well and the advantage to a gun like this is that it is as small as a crossfire but it has ranges like a Nitefinder. It fits very well in my pocket and will be great for wars. Questions? Comments?

Uhm, yea, I think you should cover the holes either A) with... I'd use balsa sheet and paint it... or use the ammo holders you no longer have attached, like some people use in the handle of a non-reduced NF.

The silver is actually just the color that came with the gun. I got the Nitefinder from the Crossfire bonus thing.

I used a dremel to cut and sand down the plastic.

Balsa wood sounds like a good idea. I am also planning on painting it black.

Be extremely careful if you paint the entire thing black, if a cop sees you with it outside he might mistake it for the real thing and put a cap in your ass. If it were my gun I would paint the blue black only and leave the barrel a different color so if anyone sees the thing they dont think it is real because of the orange strips and orange cocker. But this is yours so do what you see fit with it.
JUST BE CAREFUL!

Yea I know I have painted many guns black before. I won't paint the whole thing black but more likely keep the plunger and trigger orange.

i did this to both of my NFs, and I love it. also i'd recamend cuttting he rail off of the top of the gun, it looks a lot nicer. i've left the holes there and uncovered and they look fine.

I'm suprised you didn't cut off the trigger guard. It seems like it just takes up space.

I didn't cut off the trigger guard because I love the feel to the gun as it is. I like having a space between my trigger finder and my middle finger.

Very nice reduction. I've still been debating whether or not I should do the same thing on mine. I have to agree that the trigger guard feels better for me too.

To patch up the hole, I would even take some leftover foam and pack that in. Keep it in with a bit of black hockey tape. It might look a bit more sloppy when completed, but I'm one of those "the more worked-on look, the better" type Nerfers. I'd say whatever feels better to war with.

Ompa suggested over at NHQ that I should use some Bondo, which is like a putty filler, so I ordered some of that last night and I am going to use some of that.

I'm not saying this a bad mod, but this may have already been done, i think i saw it somewhere, just dont remember where. but in any case very nice mod.

Personally, I think the rail really serves a good purpose if you take the rail off of the Titan, which is the one that NFs and things hook on to. Then, like OMC did, put the rail on an Xbow or something, and then you can just clip your sidearm on the gun. It works like a charm.

I like the idea that it is paintable and sandable. It also sticks to pretty much any surface.

Just don't try to use plaster filler. I used this on one of my chopped NFs and it had cracks in it. I've also used filler foam, but it leaves a fuzzy and porous surface. Bondo sounds like it would work the best, like many of you have said

I have two nite finders like that, it's a good mod.
I just have a few comments on your gun.

1.Cover the hole, it just looks more professional. I used black tape, and it worked fine.

2. What both Illadar and I have done with our nite finders we’ve done like this, is paint the innards black. (Plunger tube, plunger, and trigger) and then paint the shell of the gun either green or red, blue would look nice to.

3. Leave the trigger guard on.

Meiser, you must have some strict ass cops. My friends play airsoft, and all their tips are pure black. Some ladies were walking by, and they called the police....So the cops get there, laugh, take the guns and start shooting each other. I really don't think they care that much. Even so I thinnk they would just tell you to not do it again. I don't think you need to be too protective of it.

Looks like a basic PPK modded NF. Looks nice anyhow.

Here is the progress on my Mini Nitefidner.

I got the bondo today and decided to plug up the first hole. I also painted the gun a gun metal balck which looks really cool. It has a metallic look to it. The reason why I painted it first is because soon as I apply the Bondo I won't be able to get the gun apart. That kinda sucks but I'll just mask the plunger and such when I paint the part where I applied Bondo. Here are some pics.

Honestly, I'm a big fan of the black nitefinders with the orange internals. Honestly the two colors look very good together on the NF. Let's face it, it's a Nerf gun, one with a giant plunger on the back besides, so realism isn't really going to be possible.

I really like what you did there, but I agree with Camblam - leave the trigger guard on.

What do you mean by the duck tape? I was going to use the bondo and paitn over it so it looks like that was how the gun was origanally made. Painting the handle would be a great idea. I just have to find a paint the same color as the plastic in the plunger. Does anyone know of any? I usually use Krylon Fusion but I don't think htey would have that color.

On another note, the bondo isn't drying very well. It is still kind of sticky after a few days of drying. It says it only dryes in half hour.

Hey Ryan; about that Bondo; was it the type that comes out of an aerosol can, like Cheez Whiz? If so, you need to expose that stuff to direct sunlight. Don't try using a UV or heat lamp..that won't work. You need to bring that thing outdoors in the happy sunshine for at LEAST a half hour, preferrably more.

Judging by the looks of it, did you build it up in layers like the instructions said, or did you squirt the whole works into the holes? Doing that will slow down the curing process, since the UVA rays can't reach the inner layers, leaving them soft and annoyingly sticky. If you want it done really good and permanent, you should pull away some layers and let the inner ones cure first.

If you're using two-part Bondo (the kind that most auto body repairs are made of, with the raw material in a can, and hardener in a separate tube that you add), then you're up that famous brown creek. Pull it all off, and remix a batch, about a teaspoon (with proportional hardener) at a time. It should "go off" within 15 minutes and be pretty darn hard-set. A last ditch effort might work...try painting a bit of the hardener agent on the raw, sticky, exposed bondo...it might set up, but were I in your situation, I'd pull it off and start over so it won't be all gooey inside.

Thanks Piney, I have the Bondo that is the auto studff with the two part hardener thing. I knew I should have put it in layers but that would have taken forever. Well, I guess there is no easy way out. I will try putting on thin layer across the top but if that doesn't work then I guess I will start all over.

Good luck. You know what's pretty funny? Some folks are chopping up their blasters to make them as small as can be. Others are taking small blasters and adding all kinds of stuff like stocks and scopes and laser sights and cup holders and ending up with huge pistols.

Yeah, that is kinda funny. Anyways, I like your night finder. I personally think making pistols as compact as possible without tearing it completley down is preferred, because pistols work usually as a side arm, or should.
