Today I went to home depot looking for FBR. They thougt I was NUTS! They had no idea what FBR was. After an half hour of me trying to descride FBR someone could finaly help. Aperently in NY FBR is refered to as backer rod. If anyone else has had this problem, or you also call FBR backer rod please post.

Ummm, FBR stands for Foam backer rod. So calling it backer rod is completely understandable.

Saying "Eff, Bee, Are" to someone in a hardware store like saying "I don't speak English" to an 80 year old Russian.

It just doesn't register.

"Backer Rod" or "Weather stripping/crack filling foam" usually wins over most employees.

It's always good to know what you're looking for aswell. Always check doors/windows isles before even asking someone.

Haha, Ive tried saying "caulk saver" in an ACE hardware in California. The person gave me a very peculiar look. I've never actually got the FBR yet, I just might give it one more try saying "backer rod." Haha, thanks guys.

Sorry as you could probly tell already this was my first time to buy backer rod. Though I did not actualy buy any FBR I had once gone to an ace hardware and the people there new exactly what FBR was. Strange

Just a point of interest, I'm pretty sure we in the NIC are the only people in the 'verse who call it "FBR" which I'm going to guess only came into use cause of type lazy people, like every other acronym.

I bought it at home depot. I came in, and said "Hey, can you tell me where the 1/2 inch FBR is?" They told me where it was without a problem. It just depends on what they call it.

Yea, ive never had a problem with the materials. Only one time did the guy ask me what FBR stood for but after that he knew exactly what I was tlakign about, and yeah everyone here has good tips for you ask for Foam Backing Rod, or Caulk Saver Those two will usually get you to it.

I was at home depot a couple of minutes ago and was asking them about the Foam Backer Rod, they to looked at me like I had eight heads but after some careful isle skimming I found it, next time I am just going to ask them for Backer Rod instead of Foam Backer Rod.
