I did a restrictor and stem removal on my sisters firefly, and now the ranges suck poorly. I weighted the front third of my micros with a peice of unmelted glue stick, and it worked better, but the range was still a lot worse than the 47 feet I had gotten with that same dart with the restrictors in. I then filled the entire dart with the unmelted glue and the ranges went back to sucking. Here are some ranges I got with different dart before and after modding the gun.

All ranges are max

::Restrictors in::
Micro: .................. 35'
Micro half weighted: 47'
Micro full weighted:. 30'
Micro no suction cup
half weighted:
...... 45'
Micro no suction cup
full weighted:
....... n/a

::Restrictors out::
Micro: .................. 15'
Micro half weighted: 30'
Micro full weighted:. 10'
Micro no suction cup
half weighted:
...... 35'
Micro no suction cup
full weighted:
....... 20'

So... what do I do? Do I absolutely need stefans?

Did you put the discs the pegs were on back into the turret? If you didnt, then the air is getting out of those gaps. If you did put them back in, then you must have put it back together wrong.

...Why would you ever use pieces of glue for weights? In stock darts? And what I understand even less is why you'd put a piece of glue all the way through a dart. That just makes no sense.

The WHOLE POINT of the restrictor-modded FF is to use Stefans, since you're removing the peg. Taking that out and making "hot glue darts" is only going to make it suck.

When you take the air restrictros out of a gun, you remove the barrel post as well. Now look at the back of your stock dart, see that hole? That's where the barrel post goes into. Because that hole is plugged by the post, the air only pushes against the outer ring of your dart. When you take the barrel posts out and continue to use stock darts, the air expands throughout that hole that goes through the middle of the dart before firing it, thus creating less pressure to fire the dart with because the same amount of air is spread out in a larger space.

Less Pressure = Less Range

Hope that helps.

When you opened you firefly up i bet a small blue piece of plastic went flying. Also you are missing a spring. This blue peice of plastic is a nozzle. I guides the air into the barrel. You need it. Go find it.

good point, but...

because the air is acting on a larger surface area, more force is applied to the dart, which has been known to increase range rather than hinder it. The air also gets trapped in the hole in the back of the dart, which has also been known to increase range somewhat, also, but only by 5-10 feet. The only problem is that what you said and what I added are both true, and they more or less cancel out, thus there is usually little or no change in range after the pegs are removed. (at least that's true in all of the 30-some guns I've modded.)

The firefly and the maverick seem to fire better stock than modded in most cases. If you must remove the pegs (for stefans), you have to do something to improve the seal between the plunger and the turret or the seal inside the turret itself.

I think Spartan's real problem is that he's filling his darts with glue -_-, and that he has done nothing to improve the seal in the turret.

He could also be missing pieces like Allan pointed out.

Guys Im not a retard I have that blue piece and I know what its for. If putting the round things back in Ill try that. Also I'll try gluing the backs if the hallow part in the stock darts is making me lose pressure. Als I might try the straw/ spray foam mod, to take up some space for better pressure. Thanks guys

Y'know, you throw the word "retard" around so freely and casually, it's almost offensive.

I've noticed that when modding the revolver-style spring loaders (Maverick, DTB,etc.) that plain ol' experimenting seems to work pretty damn well. On my first attempt, I seemed to do more harm than good as the modded gun had descreased range and stability. After some tinkering, my desired results were obtained. If I were you, I'd take one long look at the situation and just think about possible solutions, just maybe you can find one that works.

And do you have to say "retard" when "idiot" or "person of subpar intelligence" work just as good, without the political incorrectness?
