I know there was already a thread on art, but I couldn't find one specifically on photography. I'd like to see some other people's photos and get some opinions on mine. This is a new hobby for me and all I've got is a digital camera and a tripod and haven't really got any experience besides taking pictures on vacation and around the backyard. Here are some of my photos:

If the pictures are too big please tell me and I will resize them, but they seem like a reasonable size to me.

Here's a horrible quality picture, but it's cool non the less. Just a picture of a huge double rainbow that I took from my backyard deck.

It was very long also.

You have quite an eye NerfMonkey. Keep up the good work. The first picture of the flowers, I would suggest getting closer next time. I always take a few pics of each shot at different distances and angles to make sure I get the best shot.

I have my associates degree in Photography, but I'm going to switch to art education.

Here are some of mine:

Thanks. That means a lot coming from someone who knows what they're doing.

Here's one that I messed around with in some software that came with my camera and turned it sepia. It didn't look as cool in normal colors.

I do a lot of black and white but sometimes if I'm shooting something colorful that I want to be vivid and stand out, like a flower, I have to use color to make it noticable. If it's something that's already dark and doesn't stand out too well I'll use black and white. Nice pictures by the way, I'm impressed by that one with the toilet paper. Very cool.

The quality of the B+Ws arent as I would like. Those are all scanned prints using 35mm TMAX. My scanner ( when it worked ) was sub-par at best. The physical prints look much much better.

There is some very good work in this topic! I wish I could take pictures that were worth looking at. I don't quite have the eye or the inspiration, but I definitely appriciate the images you guys have taken.

I really like the nature ones more than the emo-esque ones.

Ninjz I like your work the best. I used to do alot of searching in my spare time to find dark photography/art.

The best source for art that I found whether it be dark or not is here.

I have filled up 4-5 folders on webshots of the art form this site alone. For best quality viewing click on the thumbnail then click on "view deviation" then click on the photo for artists intended size/quality etc.

I don't get my kicks out of you,
I don't feel the way I used to do.
I know its bad,
After what we had,
But I’m just not the angel you knew.

Thats only a portion of my photography, as my scanner doesnt work anymore. Not all of my stuff is "dark" or "emo-esque". 99% of my work is done in 35mm and printed in the darkroom, so I am unable to show the majority of it. Since im changing majors, I plan on getting a nice digital or SLR camera so I can keep in habit and not have to worry about a darkroom. I still LOVE photo, but being an art teacher is going to be easier for me.

Nice photos everyone, I really like this thread. NinjZ must have some interesting stories. Sharp nature photos are tough, but the quality is great on ogopogo's (fuzzy photos really get to me). Here's a couple from me:

One of our clan members, Nightwing, just got a new digicam. I don't know what model, but it's a Nikon, and it+all its godies cost him $3500. He's planning on photography as a career.

He has a lot of landscape works that he's done. Just recently he got a picture of the sun coming through the clouds over a dark landscape. which happens to be the entire LA basin, which has a dim little rise near the middle which is a group of buildings we call downtown LA. It's incredible.

I'll see if I can get some of his stuff up.

Great work in here, though!

That happened to me earlier, but it seems as though it's fixed itself now.
