That my friends is the franklin battle max play set. It's a paintball gun designed for kids ages 9-14. I just saw one shoot yesterday. My friend went out and bought one. It is SEMI-AUTO... and it fires hard. It doesn't hurt because the projecticles are a soft foam. You pump the front handle about 10 times and you can fire all the 8 shots off as fast as you can pull the trigger. It is accurate and it will shoot further than 50 ft. It's just accurate up to that. The only thing stopping me from gettin the gun is the price tag. I just thought I would let everyone in on it if you had a good budget for nerf guns. Discuss.

Sounds very, very tempting. You should convince your friend that there is a gold gear inside it so he opens it up. Then you can take pictures so we can get an idea of how it works. What I'm most interested in is the valve mechanism, and if it can be easily replicated in a homemade.

One question though, does the range decrease after each shot?

Too bad I don't have the cash to buy one. Seeing as I'm going to be a broke college student in a few months, I might as well start acting like one early.

Ya that was one thing I noticed.. It did get weaker each shot but it's common for a semi-auto gun. I mean it's a semi auto stock gun so you can't expect too much out of it. I too really wanna open it up but hes broken one too many things opening them up and he payed a good chunk of money for it.

Boy, it's cool, but you realize that you can buy 3 LONGSHOTS or 3 MAGSTRIKES with that cash. Magstrikes, that if modded like a powerclip, could get 50 plus feet....downwind....

But you get my point. Heck, you could get 3 Brass Eagle Talons for that much. But then again...it's not necessarily kid safe.

I dunno. My son is 9, and he's beginning to handle my 4 pound TASO Tunnel Rat (stock class marker). The report still startles him, though (it's LOUD).

A self-contained, pump up foam ball shooter. With a paint option.

Good concept. Pricey.

In my opinion, while that performs extremley well for an ootb foam shooter it is overpriced. You could buy a decent airsoft gun or two for that money or several blasters and moddding supplys. Not to mention tha modded blasters would yield better performance .

I have a feeling that the marker isnt made of thin plastic like NERF blasters.

Since you have handled them, are they solid and sturdy feeling? Or light and creeky like NERF blasters?

It's fairly solid. That clear barrel you can see it sort of like nerf plastics. But most of the gun is pretty sturdy and solid.

I'd just buy a blade or something similiar and modify it to shoot nerf balls or those balls. If you have the money go for it.

IN this case should I bring up this old topic since I have a question for it? Sorry if I am not supposed to do this, but I didn't want to create a whole new topic.

So My neighbors and I want to have wars with these Franklin battel maxs. My neighbors just won $700 on a lottery ticket and I have some $ to spend right now. My neighbor wants to know how it hurts. On bare skin from 30 feet away which hurts more a modded NF shooting a stefan with FOAN ON THE TIP or the Battle Max? Also how accurate is it? Can it easily hit a person from 30 feet awa?

It won't hurt from 30 ft away. It is pretty acurate. it might look like it shoots hard at first but the projectiles are made to not hurt. I think a modded NF would hurt more. I got shot with this thing from like 10 ft away and all you do is feel something hit you. No stinging or anything. It comes with a mask which you might want to wear, beacuse I think a face shot might hurt a little. If you do get it, it would be nice to see some internal pics.

Ya, I have another question, do these leave paint marks like paintball? Are the balls reusable?

Balls are reusable. You soak them in paint if you want a paintball effect. But I'd just shoot them. They are kinda exepsenive to replace so you might wanna keep track of them.

My neighbor got his today and its nice. It gets good range. The only thing I don't really like is reloading. When I get mine I will probably open it up but it is so expensive that I don't wanna break it.
