I used to go to my local hardware store and pick up FBR made from this company RCR.
Over time I noticed that there were two options, the light grey foam and the black foam. They both came in the exact same package with the same upc code even though they were slightly different.

I made some with the grey stuff but it just doesnt cut it and will not work with my brass or petg. The skin seems to grab at the inside of the barrel while being fired. It is also also a bit thinner meaning more air escapes around it.

I made some with the black stuff and was completely blown away range, velocity and accuracy all went up. I have been using this black stuff since I came across it.

Recently I noticed that stores stopped selling the black stuff so I called the company and they informed me that it was black but now they have changed their foam and will be distributing only the light grey stuff from now on.

I have tried using white foam but it is just not the same. It carries the same distance in the rapid fire but in my ABBB it slows down big time.

This is the company that I used to buy from.

This is the difference in stefans color.

Can you guys reccomend a brand of 1/2" stefans that work well in 9/16" brass because it looks as if I am going to have to start ordering off the net.

Omg. Try a different hardware store, or some people put the fbr in so say 1ft of 9/16 brass stick it in the sun or somewere hot, ie "your car" and then make some stefans and it should work perfectly.
GOT FOAM?!

Rona was the only place near me that sold 1/2" FBR. (Thats where I used to get it)
Home depot: Only sells 3/8" and 3/4"
Canadian Tire only sells 3/8" and 5/8'
The only place I can think of that I havent tried yet is Home hardware and there is a small one not too far from me. They might have it. Ill try some.

Sneakup are you saying that the brass will help dry out the stefan or help make it straight because I have no concerns with straightening the foam. Try to keep the OMG and LOL garbage to AIM and MSN where it belongs.

Not true....home depot sells 1/2" as well. Maybe your home depot is just out of stock, but I just bought 3 bags of it.

Forsaken,
I've ordered FBR from this website: A Log Homestore I use 1/2" CPVC for my barrels and the fit is really snug. It should work fine for your brass barrels. If you order from them stick with the grey FBR. The white FBR makes stefans easier to find, but the material is harder to work with and doesn't seem to have the same range as the grey.

In addition to the above (I use loghelp.com), make sure you order enough to last you a nerfing career*. You can always sell the extra to someone if you stop playing. That way you won't have any ugly surprises when you are unable to buy the exact same size and none of your guns work right with the new foam.

* I've been saying this for years - I have over 1000' feet of FBR in my garage because I'm unwilling to do all my mods over again for lack of the right size foam.

I bought a 400' spool for a fucking bargain of $18.99 and I still haven't run out in 3 years.

I love Rona.

Not in the game anymore, but it was great while it lasted. Thanks for the great years of fun, NH!

That's funny Forsaken, because I use the exact same brand as you, bag and everything, but use the greyer stuff and it works fine in my crayola's, but it takes a few shots through cpvc to get it to the right size. And when I bought my foam, I went to Home Depot in Winnipeg and they only had 3/8, 5/8 and 3/4 and I found the 1/2 at Canadian Tire.

Well I'm in Philly and at Home Depot I found tons of 3/8 and some 1/2. At Lowes I found 3/8, 1/2, and a little bit of 3/4.
