I think my latest mod speaks for itself. Pistol wars here in West MI really have more to do with looks than functionality, since we do not take them seriously. Hence, I am concentrating on beauty rather than practicality or performance from my NF and Mav. So, many aesthetic mods will be coming up when I get the time and some bondo...maybe some superglue as well.
I'd prefer to reach out and touch someone with one of my homemades. Shooting over a hundred yards is fun...
I think the best pistol match I have had was with akimbo NFs. That was rather interesting....

It is run by compressed air. With a ten foot CPVC barrel, it should shoot a long-ass ways. The 80 footer was with a 4ft 1/2" iron pipe barrel (pictured) and a Nerf micro dart with the suction tip. When I upped the pressure to 100psi, the darts would just shoot irradically and spin crazily. The darts also would fold-in on themselves due to the hole in the middle of the dart. But anyway, with a 1/2" by 10' CPVC barrel, stabilized by something-or-other, it should shoot to the 200yd mark with an angled shot, if not the 100yd PtG (now there's an old term).
Anyway, pistols are great for their purpose, which is close ranged defensive combat. The only way I'd use one as a primary (or the like) is if I made a homemade based off of nothing but being offensive, which is what my SOBR was for. Then again, I'd need a handgun design, so hmm...it'd be bigger than a DEagle...
Okay, I might try my hand at making a pistol which utilizes compressed air via a precharged cylinder. I'll post what I find out when I finish it. I have no idea where to start, so this'll be interesting, similar to what the SOBR-timeline was.

This is just a personal opinion (I happen to use and love a NF myself)...
You see, nobody's really said anything about this needing to be spring pistols.
I LOVE SPLITFIRES.
Even with the high ROF that the maverick brings to the table, I really don't think that any pistol Nerf has ever made really can compete with the Splitfire except the Sharpshooter II. A Sharpshooter II can be fixed up to ahve incredible ranges (for a pistol) as well, and it has a pretty incredible ROF for a Springer of it's power, due to the simple cock and switch priming mechanism, inolving cocking the plunger, and switching the barrel selector over.
However, the SF's ability to be fired faster than the SSII (by faster, I'm referring just two shots; not overall rate of fire) and farther as well makes it overall better. It's the only pump gun I'll ever carry with me into a war.
It's reliable, accurate, has killer pistol ranges (spring or pump) and is as easily holstered as a PPK-cut NF.
No question in my mind.
SF = incredible.

I must beg to differ, chippy...

Flacon,
I love my Nite-Mav, but for an outdoor war, I have to agree: I love my Splitfire, SSII, and SS2.
I've stolen Baghead's UBS and I use it on one of our crossbows, our LBB's, our SS2's, our singled AT3K's, singled AT2K's, and Splitfires.
Our SSII has recently died a most honourable death in our last war: Four headshots in a row before the shell physically exploded when I cocked it, and all the internals came flying out. I had to sit the rest of the round out because I was crying too much (And this was the first time I'd actually cried in more than five years)
It was my first primary when I was still a little boy, and once I got into modding, my first secondary. It always served me well, with two shots at the ready, hanging off my hip. I rarely used her, but when I un-holstered that gun, she always performed beautifully.
Lately, I've been filling the gap in my heart by experimenting with my Nite-Mavs, and I've been highly considering taking up our SplitFire to fill the void in my life.
I'm also partial to the the SS2 with the UBS, simply because of the ROF combined with the built-in holdout shot.
The SF has two shots, but takes longer to reload both barrels. The SS2 has two shots, but one considerably shorter in range than the other, but a higher ROF for the 'main' barrel.
Right now, I'm leaning twoards the SF, just because that hardley ever gets requisitioned in our wars: the SS2 is rather a hot-topic of a sidearm. If I go with the SplitFire, I'll almost be assured to get it, since no-one else ever wants to use it.
Well, that being said, I'm much more partial to springers by my nature, but I cannot deny that the best pistols out there are all air (With the possible exception of the Artemis Arms Kilroy Magnum, and the Uruk Hai Crossow).
Sincereley,
Pat

I love my L'nLs but I can't fight with only pistols. I need either more range or more shots - that's where PCs and Maxshots come in. I'm no good with pistols, so I'm not a big fan of them, they're exclusively sidearms for me. Pistols wars are very fun though, since you can get a lot closer to people than with larger single-shots.

That "When" should be an if.I'm all for splitfires in the pistol category (especially when we decide that the ST2k is a pistol), but otherwise my NF is wonderful, as is the traditional L&L
And the ST will never be considered a pistol. A SF is definitely a pistol, but that thing is no pistol.
A pistol should be usable as a sidearm (regardless of it being holsterable). But you don't see many sidearms nowadays with 75-80' ranges, that are pump, and have eight shots, now, do you?

I also love pistols. We have many pistol wars. Hey don't be dising the scout. It's not too bad when modded. I think the clip through the grip is basically impossible.......
sorry. i didn't read.. shame on myself
