I love my pistols probably more than my rifle type guns. I just like the feel and they usually, with the accepition of the scout, shoot just as far as you would need in a nerf war. Hail to the pistols. Also i've been brainstorming ideas for a pistol that has a clip feed through the grip. any others thinking this. All in for the pistols.

I also love pistols. We have many pistol wars. Hey don't be dising the scout. It's not too bad when modded. I think the clip through the grip is basically impossible.......

Think IMI in terms of pistol with mag through the grip. The cylinder and piston would be behind the grip, allowing the barrel to be placed in front of the grip, meaning that the grip would be the mag to supply ammo. So, the connection between the trigger and the catch would be a lengthed version of the same concept of bolt's Grammation pistol, or whatever that thing is called.

I think my latest mod speaks for itself. Pistol wars here in West MI really have more to do with looks than functionality, since we do not take them seriously. Hence, I am concentrating on beauty rather than practicality or performance from my NF and Mav. So, many aesthetic mods will be coming up when I get the time and some bondo...maybe some superglue as well.

I'd prefer to reach out and touch someone with one of my homemades. Shooting over a hundred yards is fun...

I think the best pistol match I have had was with akimbo NFs. That was rather interesting....

^^what he said^^

It is run by compressed air. With a ten foot CPVC barrel, it should shoot a long-ass ways. The 80 footer was with a 4ft 1/2" iron pipe barrel (pictured) and a Nerf micro dart with the suction tip. When I upped the pressure to 100psi, the darts would just shoot irradically and spin crazily. The darts also would fold-in on themselves due to the hole in the middle of the dart. But anyway, with a 1/2" by 10' CPVC barrel, stabilized by something-or-other, it should shoot to the 200yd mark with an angled shot, if not the 100yd PtG (now there's an old term).

Anyway, pistols are great for their purpose, which is close ranged defensive combat. The only way I'd use one as a primary (or the like) is if I made a homemade based off of nothing but being offensive, which is what my SOBR was for. Then again, I'd need a handgun design, so hmm...it'd be bigger than a DEagle...

Okay, I might try my hand at making a pistol which utilizes compressed air via a precharged cylinder. I'll post what I find out when I finish it. I have no idea where to start, so this'll be interesting, similar to what the SOBR-timeline was.

The only way a grip fed clip pistol would work would be if it had little disposable compressed air shells behind each dart, to propell it. Speaking of compressed shells, they should have large clips, where before the game, you use an intense compressor, Nerf company Made, to pump it up. This would be amazing because no pumping in the game, only changing the clips. Does anyone agree, I think it would be amazing.

When you consider the size necessary to make shells involving a valve, chamber, and barrel, especially to make them not horrible, that gets pretty enormous pretty quick. I'd take pumping a few times over that anyday.

You would make the darts smaller and not use shells. Just use a weaker spring. I have made a clip that dosn't use shells and has a weak spring but it still gets the job done. Now I know there must be more people that just love the pistols or am I and like 2 or 3 others the only ones :D . Show yourself because i'm startin to feel lonley -_- .

I was talking about Munson20's post, not mags in general.

It's quite possible to make a grip clip, but you would need significantly more gun behind the grip, like an uzi.

I must beg to differ, chippy...

This is just a personal opinion (I happen to use and love a NF myself)...

You see, nobody's really said anything about this needing to be spring pistols.

I LOVE SPLITFIRES.

Even with the high ROF that the maverick brings to the table, I really don't think that any pistol Nerf has ever made really can compete with the Splitfire except the Sharpshooter II. A Sharpshooter II can be fixed up to ahve incredible ranges (for a pistol) as well, and it has a pretty incredible ROF for a Springer of it's power, due to the simple cock and switch priming mechanism, inolving cocking the plunger, and switching the barrel selector over.

However, the SF's ability to be fired faster than the SSII (by faster, I'm referring just two shots; not overall rate of fire) and farther as well makes it overall better. It's the only pump gun I'll ever carry with me into a war.

It's reliable, accurate, has killer pistol ranges (spring or pump) and is as easily holstered as a PPK-cut NF.

No question in my mind.

SF = incredible.

100% agreed with Falcon. No pistol can compete with the splitfire. Not even compete.

Flacon,

I love my Nite-Mav, but for an outdoor war, I have to agree: I love my Splitfire, SSII, and SS2.

I've stolen Baghead's UBS and I use it on one of our crossbows, our LBB's, our SS2's, our singled AT3K's, singled AT2K's, and Splitfires.

Our SSII has recently died a most honourable death in our last war: Four headshots in a row before the shell physically exploded when I cocked it, and all the internals came flying out. I had to sit the rest of the round out because I was crying too much (And this was the first time I'd actually cried in more than five years)

It was my first primary when I was still a little boy, and once I got into modding, my first secondary. It always served me well, with two shots at the ready, hanging off my hip. I rarely used her, but when I un-holstered that gun, she always performed beautifully.

Lately, I've been filling the gap in my heart by experimenting with my Nite-Mavs, and I've been highly considering taking up our SplitFire to fill the void in my life.

I'm also partial to the the SS2 with the UBS, simply because of the ROF combined with the built-in holdout shot.

The SF has two shots, but takes longer to reload both barrels. The SS2 has two shots, but one considerably shorter in range than the other, but a higher ROF for the 'main' barrel.

Right now, I'm leaning twoards the SF, just because that hardley ever gets requisitioned in our wars: the SS2 is rather a hot-topic of a sidearm. If I go with the SplitFire, I'll almost be assured to get it, since no-one else ever wants to use it.

Well, that being said, I'm much more partial to springers by my nature, but I cannot deny that the best pistols out there are all air (With the possible exception of the Artemis Arms Kilroy Magnum, and the Uruk Hai Crossow).

Sincereley,
Pat

I really wouldn't call the UH Crossbow a pistol. It weighs at least a pound and a half and is bigger than a Maxshot.

I love my L'nLs but I can't fight with only pistols. I need either more range or more shots - that's where PCs and Maxshots come in. I'm no good with pistols, so I'm not a big fan of them, they're exclusively sidearms for me. Pistols wars are very fun though, since you can get a lot closer to people than with larger single-shots.

I'm all for splitfires in the pistol category (especially when we decide that the ST2k is a pistol), but otherwise my NF is wonderful, as is the traditional L&L

Something Illadar and I have started doing more of now, for many reasons is doing pistol only wars. Pistol only wars aren’t better than normal wars there just different. We play that you can only have one gun so the stand offs that take up time and I find it get more tactical when you only get one shot. Also we play that alliances can be made. You get four guys walking around it's a free for all still but short-term alliances can be made. Like let’s team up until we kill Illadar. I find that NFs work best in wars like these, though I haven't tried any of the new dart-tag pistols. We also play that the maverick counts as a "small primary" not a "pistol". This is because if I have an Nf and you have a maverick its now a war, its a massacre. Another fun war type is low rof high range and power primaries only. This war type plays out a lot like pistol wars, but the distances between us increase and so dose how much it hurts and how many darts we lose, so because of this we don't do as many of these wars as we do pistol wars.

^That's what I did over the weekend. I was at a friend's house and we didn't have our guns, so we went and bought the single dart tag sets ($10 ones, not $30 package for 2). Which brings me to the point. I really like that pistol. Probably my favorite stock gun, but I also like the nitefinder, like most.

That "When" should be an if.

And the ST will never be considered a pistol. A SF is definitely a pistol, but that thing is no pistol.

A pistol should be usable as a sidearm (regardless of it being holsterable). But you don't see many sidearms nowadays with 75-80' ranges, that are pump, and have eight shots, now, do you?

I am in love with pistols, as well. My siblings are equipped with Mavericks, and I a NiteFinder. I like the way that pistols force you to use shots wisely, and aim more careful.

Pistol Wars are tense because every shot matters, and like many of you have said, aiming's importance is greatly increased. Nothing will beat the shot I had during a 1v1: mid-summersault, dodging my opponent's dart while hitting him square in the chest. Pistols allow the wielder to be athletic and mobile, rather than stationary and sneaky...ish.
