I randomly stuck my stefan into a pvc pipe and it came out the other end. My question is, is this a bad thing or am I doing something wrong when I am making the darts.

Well, chances are, the PVC is too big anyways. Otherwise, that's perfect. You want the dart to perfectly fit -- meaning that it should slip through like a piece of cake (for those of you who have slipped cakes). If it doesn't, then the dart is too big or the pipe is too small. You don't want it to fall through, though... then the dart is too small or the pipe is too big.

1/2 " fbr won't fit in 1/2" pvc unless you have some weird-ass darts.

Take your dart to Lowes, Home Depot, etc, and try out different barrels. You might want to try cpvc, sch. 80 pvc, copper piping, and variouse sizes of brass.

You should have to push them, they should not just fall out.

You should be able to put the dart in the back of the barrel and have it stay there. If it slides through to the other end...then the barrel is too big. Also, 1/2" PVC will not fit micro stefans at all. I would definitely suggest brass....as it is the best barrel material and it comes in the perfect size for 1/2" stefans. I would also suggest getting this brass, then "nesting" it inside of the PVC. By nesting, I mean hotgluing it inside the PVC. It is a good idea to keep the brass safe...and is very common to do.

It won't effect the gun itself...it will affect the range. With the dart, it MUST have an airtight seal with the barrel. Therefore, all the air will be consentrated on the back of the dart, and no air will escape through the empty area of the barrel.

Bend the copper??? Why would you do that...then your barrel will not be straight and your dart will shoot left or right! And how wouldd that make the dart fit better? Also, you should not be using copper...it is not a good barrel material at all because of the amount of friction it has....

You really need your dart to fit in snug it the barrel. Bending the copper will make it fit at the top , but you are not going to get great result because the air is not fully concetrated on the dart.

lilsniper, he means to barely bend the barrell at the top, so the dart will not fall through the barrel.

It's not going to make much difference. you need a tight fit.

9/16 Brass barrel would do you good. You can pick it up at a local hardware store.

If you want a really tight fit, go with 1/2" CPVC if you can't find any brass.

Ha...my micro Stefans are so tight in 1/2" CPVC that I can't use it as a blowgun. I play trombone, started playing saxophone, and can ride a mile in less than two minutes on my bike, by the way, to tell you what my lung power/capacity is. If you still don't get it, with one whole breath, I can almost fully inflate a ballon. I'm not so sure if 10" of the stuff would be good for a singled AT3k anymore...

I tried to fit my stefans into CPVC 1/2" but they wouldn't fit would that effect my range? Also is there another way to fire stefans out of a NF with out a barrel extenstion?

Go to a local hardware store, either a big chain (lowes, ACE, Home Depot, etc) or some local Mom+Pop shop. Take your stefans with you. Now, look around for different materials.

Most people find that brass works well: 17/32 inch, or 9/16 inch are used for 1/2 FBR.

But, if you can find another material, go ahead and use it. Your darts should fit snug enough that they don't fall out, but loose enough to be blown out by lightly blowing into the tube.

For a NightFinder, I'd suggest take two inches of 17/32 inch brass, and put that two inches inside of 3 1/2 inches of 9/16 inch brass. Take that brass assembly, and nest it onto the end-cap of the plunger.

Here's some really easy mods:

http://www.nerfhq.co...iew.php?p=26566 NOTE: Six inches of brass is too long: the longest I'd suggest is 4 1/2 inches,a nd no longer.

I hope that helped a bit.

Sincerely,
Pat

It gave the site a sort of 'homy' feeling.

Did you know that "m" can sometimes look like "rn" when read quickly?
