I don't much care for the modding part, but I love playing. A friend of mine, Falcon, did the mods for me and gave me the guns and a bunch of darts, so I'm pretty much set now. Don't think I'll ever need a different gun.

I put both, but I lean more towards the playing side of things.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy modding guns, but it takes too much of my time and money now. I have exactly what I need for playing, and couldn't ever hope for a better gun setup that fits my style than what I have right now.

So there's very little reason for me to be spending my time modding guns. The stuff that's coming out right now (and will be coming out) looks neat and all, but I won't be using any of it, so there's no reason to be buying it.

Occasionally, I'll come across something I really want to try (hence the SplitTech 2k, for example) and I'll do it, but modding has really gone out of the spotlight for me now...

Well, since I've never seen anyone with a nerf gun besides me, I'll have to go with modding nerf guns. I've had no chance to go to a nerf war...

I stick by my original comment/post...I guess I could elaborate a little.

Pretty much, the only real point to modding is making something cool yet practical for a war. By modifying a blaster to the point of it reaching its peak in awesomeness/practicability, it needs to be battle tested. Otherwise, it won't have a real purpose. So, modding leads to wars. Sure, if everyone ran unmodded then the modifications would be pointless, but meh...

So I forgot all about SENO...big deal...

That video told me a few things that I (as a clan leader) should and should not do for later this year. Mainly, start grabbing more possible cover barriers. Apparently people in SENO do things differently than KAF hosted, since we always are shooting at stand-off ranges. I personally cannot say that I have gotten an outside serious war dart kill at a range shorter than 40 feet. I have gotten barrel tap kills closer, but no shooting. Actually, I have gotten more barrel tap kills than anything else. Wow, parhaps I should do something about that, like wear squeaky shoes or something...

That van thing was pretty awesome. I think I liked it more when some dude (can't remember his name-it was a block Nerf party back when everyone here was interested) back in '98 got onto a one story house's roof and shot the oldest KAF member on the top of the head. That was priceless. Then again, stories like both of those you just have to be there, otherwise they aren't that great.

Gotta get another AT3k now...aren't those like $13?

I disagree....partly. There are a few of us who seldom get to go to wars but for which modding is a creative outlet. Which, I think, means modding itself DOES serve a purpose even if it never gets used in a war. I do agree though, that the challenge is to mod something that is useful/cool/practical and that full realization/evaluation of a mod's utility can only be truly known after "battle-testing".

I don't see anything wrong with some individuals being primarily "research and development" types as long as that new inventions are shared with the community. Then, hopefully, somebody else can test whether the mod is practical.

That's a good point. It's even better when those R&D guys battle test their one-of-a-kind blasters/homemades themselves, *ahem* BOLTSNIPER, but meh...

Yeah, I guess there is a point to modding besides its being the off-ramp to warring. Well, back to the workbench *goes to work on secret "I can't tell you what it is" homemade...*

I usually have my creative outlet with my bike, or backyard, or anything related to back there, which would be Nerf, airsoft, mountain biking, yard work, photography, hunting, shooting, shiat...there's a few things I like to do back there. Welp, now I get to go to The Home Depot. See y'all in the Homemades forum...

I know you tend to forget about your neighbours up north, but we've (The CFM) been using MMNO for our Meadowvale Mississauga Nerf Out since late 2003.

C'mon, almost all geeks have some geeky friends. Usually at least a couple will be willing to try something new and interesting. That's at least based on my experiences in almost all things geeky, which I consider nerf part of.

In my opinion, the whole point of modding is to increase a gun's performance so you can kick more ass in a war. Thus, playing has precidence. You can still play with stock blasters, it's just that supercharged blasters add a whole lot to the experience. I'm basically going to agree with General on this one: modding really is like foreplay.

I started modding so I could kick more ass in the assassin games. Then I kept modding for the fun/challenge of taking something and turning it into something better by improving range,rate of fire,ammunition,laser sights,clips,breeches etc.
