The Maverick Complaint Box

I followed the guide and took the barrel apart, removed all the loose orange pieces and springs etc. and hot glued around the edges of the barrel. I closed it up, let it dry for a while and tested out the gun. It cocked just fine, the barrel rotated fine and it even made the usual *pop* when I shot with it... the only problem was that the dart didnt come out.
My freind modded his in a similar fashion, though he left the orange rings on. His barrel wouldnt rotate like it should. Oh well back to Toys r' Us it went.
I recently painted my new maverick and reassembled it (modded, but with the orange rings still intact, just cut). It shoots, which is better than my last mod. The only thing is that it's about as wimpy as it gets. I assume this is a problem with the seal being too loose in a few places.

1. Use the EDIT button instead of double-posting
2. You have to leave the orange rings in the gun for it to fire - You figured that out.
3. You said you put hot-glue on the outside of the barrels. Could you be more specific? if you did this to your new Mav, it might explain why it's so weak.
It's a nice thought, but I don't think this thread was needed, I haven't heard alot of Mav complaints lately and the few people who have had trouble got help very fast. Many of the issues with the Mav have already been adressed.
The maverick is a great gun once successfully modded, and is pretty good stock, too. I love mine and use it in most wars. Hope you fix yours, it shouldn't be too hard to find out what went wrong.

The write up by Baghead never mentions putting back on the orange rings. That write up should be edited asap, who knows how many other people followed it only to have their maverick destroyed. The purpose of saying this isnt to discredit or insult baghead in any way, without his guide I'd have had no idea how to modify the maverick at all. It's just that some people will likely make the mistake I did, with bad results.
Sorry bout the double post, I thought that it would be more appropriate if I had the header then went into my own personal problems. It won't happen again.

Your 'bitch at other members' privilege has been revoked, effective now.My GOD. Mod your damn gun right. And stop complaining on an internet forum that you broke your $8.00 toy because you are mentally retarded. I can't take it anymore.

Time constraints mainly caused by AP English. Just finished my paper though, so I should have more time to weed through posts.
It's my job, and the admins job to bitch at members.

Because we all know nobody can best the post whore's post count but Cx himself, anyway...Stop hiding your sad attempts to increase your post count.
I agre with the general tone of the thread though.
Except one small detail.
I hate mavericks.
They're a pain in the butt,a nd they're causing all sorts of people to "get back into" nerf (as they think they know it) without really knowing, as though they'd enver stopped.
Really, it makes no difference to me, but seeing people call it their favorite, and hearing others say that it's potentially the most balanced Nerf Gun ever...
Do they even KNOW what a Nite Finder can do in comparison? If we're going to compete for the most balanced nerf gun ever, I hate to do it, but I have to put down my love for an Old edition 1500 and vote for the 3k.
There, Cx. I said it. The Airtech 3k is more well-balanced for Nerfing in this day and age than the old-edition Supermaxx 1500 is.

You broke your maverick CLEARLY ignoring hte manufacturer's instructions and voiding the warranty, then reterned it to Toys R Us as defective?
you realize that's one of the 4 or 5 ways that the Company loses money, right? We don't get reimbursed for your stupidity!

I think ElvenNerfer was talking to the starter of the thread rather than CXWQ, as Funckwich double posted right off the bat. Besides CX runs this bitch, he can post as much as he likes.Because we all know nobody can best the post whore's post count but Cx himself, anyway...Stop hiding your sad attempts to increase your post count.

O yea...i'm good. i can mod a revolver...woot. LOL.
Christ. if you want to mod something, use common sense. label, check, and map out every corner of the gun as you take it apart. every-single-part-that-can-be-removed-without-effort. If it takes effort to remove, don't remove it.
that simple,chief.

I never expected to be flamed this much just for being new to nerf gun modding and for trying to help reduce the amount of topics on a common problem.
I really loved the advice Crappy Nerfer gave me about modding my gun, do it the right way not the wrong way. Also apperantly posting problems is now complaining about breaking my toy because I'm mentally handicapped.

I never took anything apart that didnt come apart fairly easily. It's not like I took a hammer to the damn gun I just disassembled it according to the guide I was using and reassembled it just as I was supposed to. To my knowlege I followed the guide flawlessly but something went wrong. I just came here to see if anyone could steer me in the right direction but instead all I got was flaming. Thanks a lot.

Please review the Code of Conduct here. I, personally, can forgive your mistake, and am trying to give you advice on how to avoid making a similar mistake again. Unfortunately, you did deserve a fair amount of flaming. See, you completely ignored the Code of Conduct when you double-posted, which displays a lack of respect for the board admins, as well as the legitimate users who have something constructive to say. Lucky for you, the admins seem to have let your insult slide, so if you can learn from past experience, you'll be on your way to becoming a valued NerfHaven member.
Good luck, and happy nerfing.

I lost my first Maverick taking out the air restrictors. I did everything just like the guide said, finishing with hotgluing the spaces shut. The darts never made it out of the barrel just as it was, sealed tight around the rear barrel piece.
My solution to this -- a mere $8 later -- was to take out the rear part of the restrictor, then cut the barrel peg off the front part and then replace the front part back into the barrel. The gun works better: restrictors partially removed, and no air leak (and, of course, I can now use stefans).
I will post pictures if anybody needs them (I know "front part" probably doesn't do much), but I'm at my dad's for the weekend so you have to wait a couple hours.

As for the rotation problem, the same thing happened to me with my first Maverick (double hit, I know, but at least I only lost one). The problem with mine is that when I was excrutiatingly prying the three barrel pieces apart, I lost a spring (it wasn't until I bought my second one that I knew about this). The spring is the one located in the back of the barrel, inbetween the barrel and the orange piece that holds the barrel onto the axel (the spring goes around the axel).
Without this spring, the barrel is not pushed back into the rotator and thus, cannot be rotated.
I tried many solutions, but nothing worked. Since I was getting rid of the barrel anyways (air restrictor problem), I found the best solution was just to buy a new gun (but I single barreled the parts and am working on a clip mod, so my $8 doesn't go completely down the drain...).
Pictures when I get the chance, same issue as above.

Hope that helps.
...and ideas are bulletproof. "

That was kind-of a joke you guys. Believe, me, I'd be an idiot to go talking crap about Cx. First of all, there's nothing bad to say, really. Except that he's a bit too addicted to his 3k's...but that's just an opinion.Sho' 'nuff. I ain't gonna go dissin' CX about what he does on his own forum. That's his business.
