I began to mod one of my older Mavericks, and then guess what happened?



Great, apparently the air restrictor rings were ridiculously weak and the smallest amount of pressure cracked/destroyed them completely [you can't see it in the photo, but the ring to the left is cracked]. Any ideas on how I can fix this problem without very much hard work?

If you kept all the broken chunks of plastic, glue the rings back together with hot glue. The same exact thing happened to me when I cut the restrictors of my mav out with an exacto knife. However, my problem was probably caused by my lousy cutting. Anyway, as long as the rings are back together properly, (perfectly flat and round) they should work in your gun again. I went through 2 mavericks, breaking both, before I gave up. one doesn't fire and another shoots inconsistently.

That's what I was afraid of. I'm currently trying to this of another way besides just using glue, which didn't seem like it'd be effective enough.

Please dont laugh at me, Im new but I have heard about reconstructing the air restrictor rings with Coke or pepsi bottle tops, also IF you want to have the stick(sorry I dont know the word) that originated first between the air restrictor spikes, you could buy a glue stick ad take out the glue, and wrench out the bottom of it where you turn it for the glue to go up, and the stick where the glue was is a pretty good re-creation. Eh, don't worry about me laughing, I just joined like a week ago. But that Coke bottle idea sounds pretty good actually.

Whoa, thanks. Actually I just made that up (dont know if anyone said that before may be the reason I jsut thought it up but.) So yea good luck with the construction

You could also try super glue or model glue. I'd go with the model glue, it will melt the plastic a little but when it dries the bond is much stronger.

you may consider just dumping all those orange rings and straight hot glueing it like in one of the guides.

For the record, I have removed the air restrictors on four mavericks, and have only had two air restrictor rings break on me (both from the same gun).

I don't know how you go about madifying the air restrictors, but I start by cutting off the "pole" so I can lay it flat, then I painstakingly cut out the central peg (where the pole was mounted) using an exacto knife or utility blade. I used to then dremel off the remaining spokes, but I've noticed that leaving the spokes in doesn't seem to hinder performance noticeably.

I fixed my two broken air restrictors with superglue, and they work fine. Good luck.

Wow thats weird because mine are ridiculously strong. I wanted to take the middle of those rings out to make room for the straw mod and in the end I had to take a drill to it. And it still took like 5 minutes to drill the center out... wierd.
