Painted Maverick

To paint the blaster, I took it apart and laid the parts down on newspaper (not enough, though, cover a VERY wide area!). As you can see, I missed the right-hand side of the trigger. heh. The photos don't show it well, but I also left the front orange tube unpainted, so that it's fairly evident I'm not trying to go for a "real gun" appearance. Just a "cool" appearance.

As sick of maverick paint jobs as I am, I do like it.
Except for the trigger. What happenned?
I don't feel the way I used to do.
I know its bad,
After what we had,
But I’m just not the angel you knew.

That's part of the reason I posted an incomplete job like this. I wanted others to learn from my mistakes. Painting the Maverick (and probably other guns too) is very easy, and because of the way it comes apart it's very easy to get a clean, two-toned appearance. Just lay out lots of newspaper, and if you don't have a paint made especially for plastics, use a good primer first. Light coats are the key to retaining the detail work.
Thanks for the friendly words, all.

If I were new to Nerf, I could easily mistake that for a stock paintjob. Very nice turnout. I keep hearing about people using Krylon Fusion, and it really tempts me to give my guns a good painting. This is the best I've seen around here so far. Nice work!

There's a picture of the can so you can spot it in the store easier. I'm honestly not trying to be a shill here, but the stuff does work well. Only time will tell how durable it is, though.
davenelz, I agree with you. That's something I'd certainly like to do, but I'm not sure how to mask the rest of the gun to just paint that. Any suggestions?

You did a nice clean job, definitely. The method mentioned for painting the grip works, (the whole tape and x-acto knife thing,) but you have to be very precise...and press the tape down firmly at the edges, or you'll get leakage beneath it.
