Yes, out of extreme boredom on a saturday, my friend and I duct taped a paper towel tube to the end of the titan and rammed a ballistic ball down it. It only goes about 20 feet. Its worthless in a war, and only good for filling some empty time.

That was problably because you used a paper towel tube and duct taped it on. The air seal was problibaly horible. Im sure that with the proper barrel material, a titan could shoot ballistic ballls farther.

I'm sure you could shoot the balls but they wouldn't even come close with ranges of micros. Although it is a good idea. If you could fit a few balls in the barrel and shoot them all at once that would be cool.

Yeah, the air seal was crap, but we didn't have the materials or initiative (or the will to buy anything that day for that matter) to make it work well. It's not like we were going to make something with that much potenital into a ballgun, even if it was air powered.

Question: why?

Why waste your time with ballistic balls?

Granted, it's possible, if you're that determined, but why?

If you were to attempt it, I'd recommend using a system of couplers that fit over each other until you get up to a decent size PVC for them. That way, you have the option of using micros/megas.

Ballistic Balls will fly poorly from any air seal due to one factor: weighting.

Micros fly well, because there is enough weight in the front to maintain flight. Ever fired a purely foam stefan? It will fishtail and drop when it reaches the end of the barrel, all because of the weight.

If you somehow added some weight to the core of one of those balls, you might find a different result. Even then, ball guns are quite out of date, with the exception of maybe 2 on the market. I have to admit the Ballzooka was a sweet weapon in its era, but the micro dart has taken over and it's here to stay. In a sense, what I'm saying is that you shouldn't waste your time handling your balls. Go for the foamy rods instead.

Balls are cool in their own ways too because they allow guns like the ballzookas and even the simpler Reactor to have good ROFs. You can even throw the balls at people as a last resort (my dad always likes to chuck these things at me). I think if nerf wanted to improve their ball designs, one thing they could do is make them smaller and as mentioned berfore, even add a core inside them. They still might nto be as good as darts, but they would have their advantages like being very versatile. If their smaller, the nerf guns could use hoppers and stuff. I think making them smaller would give more of an advantage. If nerf does this, there'd be he mega balls than the micro balls

The other ammo types made by nerf other than darts are not very good. The dics for intance are horrible, but thats because they are juts made of flimsy foam. If they want the the disc to succeed, they have to think more about how they should be made. Like have a harder center and then the outside rim would have foam. If I can fling a gatorade bottle cap farther than a motorized disc shooter shooting those foam things, this means those foam discs suck. A harder disc might not be able to fly too much further, but it would be more accurate at least, having less tendency to curve.

I've seen an effective homemade (one by Uriel of NHQ) that hold a larger number of balistic balls that when fired into a group of people provides a good spread and is very hard to dodge. Whether the Titan can supply enough pressure to do the same given a long 1'' PVC barrel, I don't know but would be worth experimenting with.
