The nerfing community should post all of their MOST ACCURATE, and true ranges for all types of guns. This would be one of those cool things to have, but not a requirement for buying or modding. This would also help influence more write ups and modding ideas, therefore, helping everyone. Cx i would highly appreciate some feedback. Thanks to all who view and post.

p.s. This is not the actuall place to post your ranges, just the thread on the idea of having such a place.

Two things prevent this...

1) There are many variables to range testing, from person to person, place to place. Outdoor / indoor, wind, temperature, are the environmental variables. Barrel materials and friction coefficients, dart sizes, FBR composition, weight placement and types, and aerodynamic designs are the equipment variables. Shooter's height, firing conditions, and measuring techniques are the human variables.

2) Most commonly, though, I believe that 60% of ranges posted for mods and such are full of bullshit, enough to break the meter. I don't say anything because I post 'em like I see em, and my ranges really suck compared to many of the NH, and especially NHQ users. Then again, it's the internet, and it's not surprising to see range claims that fall into the category of Dick Cheney being related to space aliens. Which may actually be true. ;)

I think that cxwq has the most honest and no-crap range tests for his modifications, even bustin' out the Modalizer to figure out averages and give a ballpark number.

Truth be told, I think that ranges down to the 2 or 3 foot difference are not important, mainly since if we're actually Nerfing, you could make up that range difference with one or two steps as you move along. It's the 10-20 foot differences that are usually taken into consideration.

Again, just my two schillings.

Very well said, Piney.

This idea might work if you set a standard for measuring the ranges, but it would just turn into a "who can get the longest range" contest, and like Piney said, 60% (probably more) of the ranges posted would be bullshit.

Probably dead by now, or something.

yeah, i understand all of this. But in my defense for a crappy idea, i did say average, so that way the liars and the crappy modders balance out the answer. thanks for the posts.

Just a question, when people do a mod write up and post the range is that with the gun level or pointed up at 45 degrees? Or somewhere in between?

This really depends on the write up, while most will specify wether the angle is flat and rarely will it be as extreme as a 45 degree angle. Look at some of the modification writeups to see what I mean.

Connor: Oh, is that right, Rambo?
Murphy: All right, get your stupid fucking rope.

Do you mean with an integration or what? Because size doesn't have anything to do with performance...-NerfMonkey
