I was making a sig, and for some reason, even if it was exactly 300 or slightly less characters, it would say it was too long. But at 287, it was fine. It was just kinda weird and I was wondering if there is a reason for this.

Count spaces, puncutation, carriage returns, and UBB code. There's a carriage return character at the end of every line that doesn't wrap. The limit is 300 bytes.I was making a sig, and for some reason, even if it was exactly 300 or slightly less characters, it would say it was too long. But at 287, it was fine. I may disallow quotes in sigs because it looks stupid. I've already changed the code to disallow images.

Well I used the built in counter, maybe it doesn't count the characters that appear with quotes, then when it appears, it goes over. I don't know. It really isn't a problem, just a little weird.

Not to add this to my ever increasing wishlist/things cx needs to know pile (see your PM box), but could we please do that? Quotes in sigs are really starting to get annoying. I'm starting to think they are posts.I may disallow quotes in sigs because it looks stupid. I've already changed the code to disallow images.

Yeah, that'd be nice. If you're that desperate for a quote, don't go messing with the pages/people's heads by putting [ quote ] tags in there. Use quotation marks like the rest of humanity.

It makes me slightly angry when I see quotes in signatures because most of them make fun of someone who said something by accident. e.g. "I was putting rubber bands on the cock" (of some gun or other, not meant to be quoted like that). I don't remember who said that, but someone who I won't mention saw it as hilariously funny and put it in their sig.
