hey fellas i'm back. been a while hasn't it, how the fuck have you all been?

anyways i found a video when i was poking around on You Tube of what looks to be a nerf AK, for lack of a better name. from the video its a bolt action, clip fed, ejecting shell nerf rifle.

i searched around and didn't find anything, so if this has been brought up already i probably look like a douche but does anyone know anything about this?

looks bitchin.

That's a Buzz Bee toys Ruff Stuff Air Blasters Rapid Fire Rifle. It isn't Nerf, but it's the same idea, though the darts (Nerf micros essentially) are stuffed down into those orange plastic shells before you load them into the removeable clip.

I have two here at home new-in-box I'd be happy to sell you.

It looks like the Buzz Bee Ruff Stuff Rapid Action Rifle.

*EDIT* Anima beat me to the post, but there's the link anyway.

Wow, it really has been a while since you've last posted...

Cool video and stuff, looks like a fun gun to play with stock. I don't know how old it is though, I think I've seen it before.

Not in the game anymore, but it was great while it lasted. Thanks for the great years of fun, NH!

I've been wondering about these things, can you make your own shells? Ranges?

It would be a lot of hassle to make your own shells, but it's probably doable. Usually people just take the stock shells and stick some PVC in them to tighten things up.

Ranges...I never measured, but I'd say around 25-30 feet flat. They're decently powered...better than the Double Shot (Buzz Bee's shotgun).

They tend to make a mess, since when you're done emptying a clip you've got six darts and six shells to recover and reload. While that's fun at first, it gets annoying after about the dozenth time.

The cocking is via a Winchester-style mechanism; a lever you pull down. I've seen someone modify the Rapid Fire Rifle to become a bolt-action rifle instead. I think that'd be more convenient, and could certainly look cooler if done properly.

Kmart sold Buzz Bee toys, but Kmart stores are rather scarce these days....and very few of them seem to carry the Double Shots or Rapid Fire Rifles anymore. A chain of stores called 'Alco' also sells Buzz Bee products, and they've even cropped up at Walmart before.

For all their complexity, they don't jam too often. The clip is rather hard to pull out of the gun...I'm not sure your average child would be able to do so.

my friend owns it, its quite like the FAR other than the pull back thing. it shoots quite good, i would like to buy one except i didnt know where to buy it in canada... the walmart here does have it.

it has a magazine that holds 6 bullets + 1 bullet already loaded.

their is only 1 magazine spring pushing the shells forward.

I had some sucsess making shells for the double-shot, which as far as I can tell has the same shells. I made them by taking a piece of PVC and using a disk sander to shape it in the right shape, it ejected fine from the ds but the dart didn't seem to want to shot. I think it might have been because of the shape of the end of the PETG in the shell and how with the real shells they have the tiny ridges on the back of the shell.

For those of you interested the Rapid Fire Rifle is available at KB toys. I spoke with a company rep who indicated to me they are trying to get Wal-Mart to carry their line of guns as well. Below is the company response.

This item should be available at KB Toys very shortly, if not already. We have been trying to get Walmart to carry it, so now we're asking consumers for help as I have had a lot of requests for the Rapid Fire Rifle. If you happen to go into a Walmart, you can ask them to order it. If they get enough requests, they will be more likely to purchase this item from us & this will make it more available to consumers like yourself.

I've only checked one KB store for them, (though several times,) and while apparently they had some before Christmas...they've been replaced with Buzz Bee's line of squirt guns to prepare for summer. I didn't see a single Ruff Stuff Air Blaster there.

The rifle and double shot do use the same shells. Your problem is likely that there is too much friction in your home-made shells. The double shot and rifle dont have any power due to their form, and design-inherent leaks. Anything with more friction than the stock shells and you're going to have trouble getting the darts out.

I have two double shots, and a rapid fire rifle that i've replaced the barrel on. Even 1/2" sch40 pvc was too tight for my micro darts, believe it or not. I'm currently using 3/4" cpvc, and it only works about as well as the stock barrel.

However, the rifle, dispite being only about as good as a stock maverick, is easily the most fun gun I've ever seen.

You may have to actually e-mail the company to find a retailer (or direct order one).

The little critters of nature, they don't know that they're ugly. That's very funny, a fly marrying a bumble bee. I told you I'd shoot, but you didn't believe me. Why didn't you believe me?
